Just picked up a Mythos Black 2016 A8L with the 4.0L V8T at 455hp / 444tq.

Drove it home today.. still learning

I purchased the car from CarMax. I found a business card for the local Audi dealer so I test drove the car from CarMax to Audi to get the scoop. Turns out the previous owner WON the car at a golf tournament for a Hole in One shot. He added the wheel you see in the pictures when the car was delivered back in June and drove a whole 6,102 miles before giving it to CarMax... I am now the proud second owner...

Stock-ish... Maybe lower a little with some programming, paint the calipers red and throw on a K&N filter...

Don't remove them...unplug them. I noted that the default position on mine when they are unplugged is open valves. Double check that on yours. You will get "soft" codes from unplugging them...not codes that will trip a CEL or affect performance, but codes the dealer will see when you bring it in.

That said, this won't give you much more exhaust sound. It is frustrating how quiet Audi thinks these cars need to be; I hate it as well. I don't think there are existing cat back exhaust options for the A8L. You can have the center resonator removed, but that won't affect sound much either from what I've read. You'll have to go with a custom option - e.g., replacing the rear mufflers or, if you're fortunate enough to have a mandrel bending exhaust shop around, a full custom exhaust. I'm going to have a custom mandrel bent exhaust made for my car at a local shop soon.

Plan A: straight pipe at the factory connection to remove the center resonator and both mufflers (hence the unplug on the valves)
Plan B: removing the two individual resonators and the center resonator but leave the actual mufflers and keep the valves.

I wonder how that will work out. There's so much sound deadening the cabin is dead silent even at the speed limiter LOL

Its actually been raining in Las Vegas so I haven't crawled under to unplug the muffler flaps.... but I've been advised that they will flag in the system but not throw a CEL light.

Next I've been researching the VCDS codes that let you change things that aren't enables from the factory...
* Needle Sweep
* Operate windows from the remote
* Play DVD while in motion

I would also like to find out if I can change the defaults for a few things...
- My car has an Auto feature for the LED headlights that's not default to being active
- I would like the radio to display the current channel as default and start in the Preset List
- I would like to be able to push button start the car without needing to apply the brake pedal

supersprint makes a center section exhaust, resonated and non. i think they are $775-1000. The mufflers are what cost a lot. 700-1200 depending on single tip or power loop. Supersprint.us They don't list all of the possible parts. Go to the italy supersprint site and you will get all the part numbers.

I can have a local shop handle a delete with some mandrel bent pipe for about half of the supersprint price...
My only concerns are the sound when its done and if the factory muffler will be too restrictive

Thanks Mike. I really wanted the S8 Plus but its out of my reach financially.
I have been going back and forth with adding a small lip to the trunk. I think I want the stealth look and will remove the emblems, maybe drop it an inch or so with links and call it a day.

Does anyone know what the diameter of the exhaust is that goes into the center suitcase style resonator? I would like to bring my own X pipe with me when I have it removed.
What is our exhaust made of? Stainless steel or mild steel?

Must have been one hell of a golf tourney to give that away!! My friends and I throw an annual golf tourney with hole-in-one prizes and the insurance costs on some of the hole prizes are crazy - can't imagine the prize insurance on a 2016 A8L!! Great car, enjoy!
