B8.5 Iphone 7 bluetooth issue

hey everyone,

I believe there is a thread about some issues with the new iPhone 7 but I couldn't find it. My particular issue is sporadic - sometimes when connecting via bluetooth the MMI shows a call being made to my number - however the phone is not in use...and I cannot end the call, so its stuck with just the time counter increasing every second. And in the dash display at the top it just reads "My Number" with the phone icon. The only way to disable this is to turn off Bluetooth on the phone.

I haven't found any pattern for recreating this same error all the time, seems random. Wasn't sure if anyone else has also experienced this if so, please don't be shy.

Its super annoying - next step is to remove the phone completely from the MMI and re-pair, but I would hope there is a better solution.

Is the MMI software the most up to date?

I have a similar issue with my iPhone 6 and it displaying the actual song / album information every time I am playing music from my phone.

I know there is an update for Navi, and maybe it touches on some other components of the MMI system?

On my 2013 B8.5 S5 I've had zero issues and I connect my iPhone 7 bluetooth at least twice a day on the way to and back from work. (Have never updated anything on the car)

I had this exact same scenario happen to me in my 2015 with an iphone 7 yesterday. After rebooting my phone and MMI multiple times each, I did delete the bluetooth pairing and then re-paired, all has been working fine since.

There have been a few Bluetooth issues noted in the early versions of iOS 10. So far they seem resolved on 10.1 beta.

OP mine has done the exact same thing one time so far. I don't think updated mmi software will make a difference.

Thanks everyone - glad its not just me. After writing this post, it hasn't happened since. weird. If I notice it again I'll try unpairing/pairing....

I did see a lot on the google around BMW owners having issues with IOS 10 and their car bluetooth systems. Apple is working on it...

Is anyone that is currently using a iPhone 7 and streams music via tune2air having play issues?

Not sure, but I believe the key is to delete all current bluetooth devices before pairing your new phone. Did that and then paired my tune2air. No skipping and phone seems to work just fine. Never did a software update on my 2011.

the trick was to remove the device from bluetooth on mmi

then go into phone and forget the mmi


numerous other threads point to resetting network settings helps

but i got away with just removing and deleting the bluetooth tether off mmi and then off iphone

After some more testing - I also found the connection to streaming music (for me Spotify). If I was listening at the time I turned off the car, and closed the app on the phone - the next time I started the car the MMI would search for the song I was just listening to. Now with the HTC M8 (previous phone) spotify would load back up and start playing - seems like with the iPhone its hit or miss...sometimes it did and music played, and sometimes it did not and I get the My Number across the screen.

so if I loaded up Spotify and selected a song - the my number went away and music started streaming. I'll continue to test...
