Audi A4 B5.5 Fuel Injectors Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I was looking online for some replacement injectors for my B5.5 and I came across these online:

    http://m.buyautoparts.com/buynow/2001/Audi/A4/Fuel_Injector_Set/35-81162_4I.html

And I was wondering if I could safely run these without issues. I contacted the seller and as you can see on the site's Q&A, I asked if it was okay to run on my A4 with a stage 1 GIAC tune. They said yes BUT I read description and it talks about programming the ECU for "low resistance and minimum of 1600cc/min." So am I safe to install these guys?

You only need injectors if your tune calls for it. I'm assuming your stage 1 tune doesn't call for anything besides stock injectors so leave it.

Those injectors look like they're intended to be direct replacements for the 2001 A4 1.8T, but maybe not... the description is a little vague.
Is your goal simply to put on new/replacement injectors? Might be worthwhile to have yours cleaned instead.

For reference, on the A4 side of the B5 it is uncommon to call the later B5 A4 a "B5.5", as that's really a Passat thing since the B5 Passat existed until 2005.
We generally differentiate between facelift (1999.5 to 2001.5) and pre-facelift (1996-1999.0), and/or specify by engine head code. Your engine head code should be AWM if it's a 2001, and there's an early AWM (2001.0) and late AWM (2001.5). Little complicated but that's Audi's fault.

While those injectors will most likely fit your motor like the stock injectors do, they are completely different than the stock injectors. According to the description, those injectors flow 1600cc/min and are low impedance. You'll burn out your ECU running them, if your motor doesn't wash out the cylinder walls with fuel first...

Alright thanks for the updates, really fast replies I'm thankful! I guess I'll stick to cleaning them instead.

If you are looking to replace the injectors then you can safely use TT 225hp injectors with a good tune. The principal of engines is fairly simple and if you give it more air then you can add more fuel and get a bigger bang. Which means you would need to run a tune that will make the engine produce more boost so it can use the upgraded injectors to add more fuel to air. TT injectors are about as big as you can go before you have to upgrade the fuel pump. Is something wrong with the current injectors?

Run some fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank. Leave your car alone, fix things as they break, and focus more on preventative maintenance on the common failures.

Hmm might try that then with the TT injectors, no they seem to work fine just a tad dirty and been in since factory but just wanted to know if I could get different ones to fit in there besides complete oem.

There are NO Audi B5.5s. Unless he's talking about Passats that had a facelift.

Wait so question, since I know these engine codes are different and some can't run these direct replacement. Can I plug n play the 386cc injectors without "spacers"?

If your B5 is a 2000-2001, then TT injectors will physically fit without any additional pieces.
BUT: there are better options than TT injectors, especially for the money. You need a proper tune to change to different injectors, and tuners these days are able to use more modern/less expensive injectors (like the Bosch EV14 550cc).

You don't "need" 386cc either. Stock injectors are generally fine for a stock turbo.
Having extra injector headroom is only a detriment when the tuner can't properly tune idle. 550cc won't have that issue.
