A4 B6 3.0 Quattro Engine Start Issue

Hi all,

Cold started my 2004 A4 3.0 this morning, turned on first attempt but with odd symptoms. Very faint turnover sound, thought it wouldn't go, then it turned on and engine jumped to 2k RPMs for a second or two on its own. Car shook violently. Settled down to default RPMs quickly after and drove fine. No lights or additional warnings. Never happened before. Any thoughts?

If it starts happening consistently, I'd try turning the key to on, wait 3-5 seconds, then turn it further to start the car and see if it still happens. Could be the fuel check valve is going bad. Another thought is that the battery may be aging and it's ready to die. What is the resting voltage of the battery?

get a OBD Bluetooth. then get a obd app. 11 bucks max. You will be able to monitor most things at will
