Clunk noise when starting from a stop 6MT

    Hey all,

Just wondering what this is or if it's normal. I have a 2013 S5 with the manual, when I start moving from a stop I hear a clunk after rolling a few yards. This happens regardless of which gear I start in or how fast I get off the line. The clutch if fully engaged when it happens. Is this a concern? Does anyone know what would cause it? I've been looking into the 034 mount inserts, would they help? If it's something that needs to be fixed I want to get it taken care of before I install the mounts since the car is still under warranty.

Pretty normal from what I recall. Transmission mounts should help.

How many miles? If you're north of 65k, it may be time for engine mounts as well. I just purchased a set of 034 density line mounts and plan to have them installed on Wednesday.

So I guess it's the transmission moving around a bit then?
    I'm at 29K miles.
    Thanks for the reply.

I believe I have the same exact noise. It's a slight clunk/click that happens after the clutch is fully engaged. Almost sounds like something electronic is causing it (like the sound of the ABS activating). It also occurs after I slow down to an extremely slow roll (just above the point of stalling) and then accelerate again without touching the clutch. The noise always sounds exactly the same each time (regardless of rate of acceleration) and happens 100% of the time.

The noise has been there since day 1, and it was completely unchanged after I installed 034's full mount suite.

I think I know what you're talking about, I assumed it was the differential adjusting the torque between the front and rear. I notice that too but not all the time. What I'm talking is more a sharp click/clunk.
