    Single Xenon Projector Removal?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I ordered up some new lenses for my 3.0 since my light output is straight garbage (cloudy/foggy outer lenses) and I went to install them this weekend only to find out the single xenon projectors don't come out of the headlight the same as the bi-xenon.

Anyone have any links, pictures, tips for removing the single xenon projector? Planning on sanding/polishing the headlights and dropping the new lenses ASAP.

*Derp. Apparently I was too distracted when I was trying to do this. Removal appears to be the same after all. Thats what I get for trying to brew beer while working on my 3.0.

Here's a great explanation of how to get projector housings out.

Any plans to protect from UV after polishing/sanding?

only plan is to spray them with a clear coat probably. We'll see how that goes.

Regular clear coat will spider and crack on the lens.I would recommend a headlight restoration kit like bg quikcure.

Any suggestions other than the BG? Doesn't really seem like its a readily available product.

I need to do the exact same thing! Did you get Retrofit? Would you mind sharing which ones and where you got them? Mine are dangerously dim!

Strange... On my Passat I used regular old Duplicolor clear on the lenses after I prepped them and didn't have any issues after a year and a half. The BG kit looks good, although I was pretty happy with good old clear coat.

Isn't that only if it's applied to a polished headlight?
vs. stopping at 600 grit wetsand, then UV auto high glass clear coat to level it

I ordered TSX lenes from RetrofitSource. These seem to have been confirmed as proper clear lenses for our single xenon projectors. Trying to squeeze this rehab in Saturday. Ended up developing an exhaust leak yesterday and now my 3.0 sounds like a race car! Hoping its not the flex joints and instead its something I can just throw some exhaust patch on to get through the winter.

Theres also a product call light rite. But the curing time is a bit long sometimes it stay tacky for a day or two.I like the BG because it dries within 5 mins of applying it.

As far as the clear cracking.I have tried both methods.Polishing the headlight then applying and wet sanding at 600 or even 800 grit and applying.Didnt seem to make a difference.Might of been the clear I used but I tried 4 different clear of 4 different cars with same results.Light rite kit comes with everything you need to go the job.Minus elbow grease, same goes for the bg kit.
