    Recaro bucket seat swap?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anybody done this? Debating about swapping my front seats to a fixed back Recaro setup or something similar.

What all is needed and how do you get around any issues with lights/fault codes associsted with the swap?

Well depending on whether or not you have memory seats, that would be one thing but removing your passenger seat will trigger the abs/parking faults if your seat sensor isn't present.

Excellent question... Even a adjustable back recaro srd would be an idea... But there is always an issue with airbag functionality and error lights... Perhaps an aftermarket supplier reseller can jump in and answer... And yes #because racecar!!.. lol

Its the prestige model so has memory seats etc. Planning on big turbo, recaros, and half cage. Already have the car where I want it other than that.

Will have to do some more investigating on this myself

Im sure they will look fine. Also planning on getting rear seat reupholstered to match over time. Or may just delete them all together.

I can see that the front seat sensors work by throwing codes or chimes in
    1. The presence of an object satisfying their minimum weight requirement,
    and ,
    2. The absence of a buckled seat belt.
Both seem to need to happen at once (the passenger seatbelt chime shouldn't come on if there's no passenger or heavy object present).

I'm not too familiar, but I think you'd have to beat the various sensors, and figure out a way to mimic the buckled seatbelt, maybe through using something as a resistor.

If the airbag system is tailored to the driver and passengers' weights, this will have to be accounted for. Depending on how these values are measured, one could beat or replace the system of sensors in order to install seats without impairing the safety systems. Like I said, maybe having a resistor could work, or one could adapt the weight sensor in a similar capacity on the new seats / fixtures. Physical installation and fitment of the seats and cage is probably not your problem, though. I'd recommend adjustable seats because, well it is a late model Audi and everyone likes the luxury of reclining.

I found a video featuring aftermarket seats being installed on the new STI, which also has seat occupancy sensors.
