Hi Guys
New the the forums, but I've had my Audi for 18 months since moving to NZ.
Hopefully going to document the trials and tribulations of doing a full 2G MMI (dvd) - 3G MMI retrofit. Yes, i know that the 3G+ would be the better option but with a child on the way, this was the best I could get past the financial controller. Playing on the idea that bluetooth is required for driving safety, plus overall weight removal....
Have been keeping a list of my purchases so far (NZD to USD is around 1.40);
8K0858969 - Centre Bracket for MMI - Allegro.pl - $61
4F0907101A - Amp Bracket - eBay - $68
8T0907368A - Radio Bracket - eBay - $28
4F0919604 - MMI Screen - eBay - $80
8T2035754D - MMI Main Unit - eBay - $440
4F0035053 - Radio - eBay - $200
Already own the following, they are the current version in my car
8T0919609F - MMI controls, with Start Stop (has little joystick on the top)
8T0907468K - Gateway (MOST)
8T0035223G - Amp (MOST) - not sure which one it is, think its the active sound system
Along with an AMI from AliExpress $90
Fakra extension (blue, 6m, female to female) $12
Wiring loom comes from a company called jku.com.au - $600
Component removal is a local company called AutoGravity and cost a staggering $300 - wish I could do this myself
Total cost is running at $1800NZD or $1285USD or £1044GBP, not especially cheap, but having problems finding 3G+ units for a good price.
Would be interesting to see if anyone has some input as to whether this is going to be ok? Don't want to rip the interior out and not have all the parts required! I think i have to wait a total of 3 wks for my loom to be built to my specs, so it gives me some time to work things out. I have a VCDS cable (genuine) and so coding with not be an issue. Any one got any tips for this?
Cheers
