    Secondary air injection ???s

I have been trying to get a grasp on this secondary air injection deal. I have a 01 awm that I am getting ready to build to handle all that can be thrown at it but the engine currently has an aeb head mounted on it. Could the sai still be hooked up?

If it is should I delete it?

i say get rid of it. If you aren't running a cat, which i assume you aren't because you're building your car, there's no need for the sai. Its just a heavy ass useless thing hanging over the front wheels and taking up space in the bay. I took mine out, and most people code there's out when they get it tuned; like i did mine. So then theres literally no need for it

Get the SAI block off plate 20$. Rip that shit out. It literally just uses exhaust gas to warm the engine up, then once the engine is hot, it does nothing.

Can't be used with the aeb head. No provision for combination valve for secondary air injection pump to add extra air to heat the catalytic converter. It is an emission item and the b5 ran fine on the aeb without it. If these cars could include an emission component for everytime you were to fart in your car, they would add that too. Like a reverse cabin filter...just for flatulence.

Get rid of it and resell it to someone who needs it. That is what I did. I can get around those stringent inspection criterion even if it is illegal. Others don't have that convenience, and this is how my highly illegal car is street legal.

I deleted the SAI on my 1.8t GTI, and got a tune to turn the monitor off on the ECU, and I had no problems getting through emissions

Issue is fewer tuning companies are offering the emissions deletes with the tunes anymore.

The SAI is a vestigial organ. Utterly useless.

Take it out, burn the plastic pile of shit, and piss on the melted heap. But yeah, mitch is correct of course. You cannot run it because there is no provision for it in an AEB head

It actually pumps fresh air into the exhaust to help heat up the catalyst quicker. It is not an EGR system. 30 seconds after starting the car, it is dead weight. If you have no cat, it is dead weight. All in all, it is dead weight that is an over-engineered piece of shit. Tits on a boar hog makes more sense than SAI.

My bad redline. Thought it worked in the opposite direction to help heat the engine up instead of the cat. Eaithet way, I agree it's garbage.

What seerlah said, AEB does not need a block off plate because there is no SAIP on pre 2000 model cars.

Easiest delete for no CEL is to just have a tuner code it out.
