Lost boost last night on the way home from work

I lost boost and then this morning it is running great again. I have APR 1+. Do I ignore this for now and see if it happens again? Was going to check for codes tomorrow to see if that reviles anything. Any protocol on this?

    Thanks for any help.

Driving about 70-75 mph, it was cool about 63F and I was on a pretty flat road. Really basic driving to be honest and just cruising along. Not pressing it in the least. I tested it out today and it was feeling great again. I suspect this was a computer generated issue? I have to say, it was strange driving my car with no turbo. Not a very fast car. lol Don't know if it threw a code or two, but will have a look. What do you think?

Definitely check for any codes if you can. That will tell you if you have an electrical failure (open circuit, short to ground, etc) with the N75. If there are no codes at all I would suspect either your N75 or your DV was sticking.

Thanks old guy. I was hoping you would give me your thoughts. I may be older than you however. lol I do love my car, but at some point I am going to get something newer. Hard to sell my baby though. I think you are in agreement, these cars are very special. I will report back the codes if I get something out of it. If not, i will have a look at the N75 and DV and replace if needed or just replace since they aren't too expensive. Again, thanks.

Older than me? Come back in 15 years;-)

And yes I agree these cars are special. This is the longest that I have ever kept a car.

Okay I finally got around to getting codes. Here is what the computer told me.

16618 Boost pressure regulation limit exceeded. P0234 Upper limit reached.

There was another code that I don't think is related, but will post it anyway.

17698 coolant temp sensor at radiator outlet signal too small (p1290) lower limit reached

Any thoughts on these codes? Thanks. Car is running fine now, but worried a bit.

That sounds like you went into limp mode because of an over-boost condition. Once you restarted the car the engine you went out of limp mode. My guess is that you have a sticking N75 or a leaking hose between the turbo to N75 or N75 to the wastegate. If one of those hoses are leaking the N75 cannot send the full boost signal to the wastegate to force it open when required.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I will discuss it with my mechanic next week. No trips planned, so not too worried at this time. Again, thanks. When you do sell old guy, what are you getting? Just wondering. I am thinking S4, but wish an S3 could be had with a manual. Oh well. Enjoy.
