Brake fluid and pad for Q5 calipers setup

    Hey guys !

Just got myself a set of Q5 calipers and Stoptech S/S lines. Now I need to sort the last piece of the puzzle :)

Use ; spirited driving. No track use.

Brake fluid ; I was looking at the cASTROL SRF, but this would most likely be over-kill and needs to be changed every year. So, I thought about using ATE super blue, but then ATE recommand to use SL-6 because of the low viscosity of the ESP/ABS system. So then I compared the Audi GENUINE fluid and the ATE SL-6 and the number are exactly the same, it's cheaper and I'm sure it will work with the ESP system in term of viscosity.

So yeah.. do people still use genuine fluid or they change for something else ?

Pads ; Akebono euro, Centric Posi-quiet, EBC Red-stuff or Brembo OEM. Seems like everyone is happy with any of these 3 ceramic pads, seen some complaint about the posi-quiet. What would people go for ?

Rotors ; Looking at a slotted/blank 2 piece option, but the cheaper one are 600$. The one I would really like is Apikol but at 800$ compared to zimmerman at 150$ blank lol.. it's hard to justify the shaving of 4lbs per rotor..

Extras ; Thinking about doing the Macan air duct mod. I was told the whole kit cost about 100$ so I think it's worthwhile

havent made my choice, I'm positive I still have a good 6 month of use out of my current setup.. just in case a new offering comes to the market when i buy lol, I will hold on.

edit : still looking at getting the new brembo xtra rotor, just hope maybe another LW option will be available by now.

You can use last gen CTSV pads in them. They are a Ferodo compound similar but more street friendly than the DS2500. I'm a huge DS2500 fan but they are around $250. OEM pads are hard to beat for DD use. Oh and they are also around $80-$100. Dust is probably average to bad but I love stock initial cold bite. When I do the Q5 kit, I'm going to go with these. GM part #89047725

Just not a ceramic fan so wanted to share some of the rabbit hole research that I had been doing.

Thanks, this is helpful; I'm going to try the GM pads.

I have a couple thousand miles on them, still digging them. Dust isn't quite as bad as stock. Spent a couple hours in the mountains beating on them with stage II power and they didn't whimper.
