Also in S6 (APR tuned) - I run Michelin PSS in the summer and Pilot Alpin in the Wisconsin winter - I've yet to be disappointed.

There are plenty of other options but I have found this combo cost efficient, reliable with great performance.

I also use the PSS in summer and the Alpine PA4's in winter. The PSS have incredible wet and dry traction but when temps start to fall or on ice they are no fun. The PA4's are very good in the snow and ice and can get by when the temps increase but they are horrible when the temps get warm.

The main reasons for running 2 sets is safety, performance and alloy damage. I run a smaller 19" winter wheel compared to the 20's in the summer because I don't want the ice damaging my summer tires. Plus the bonus is you get more life from the tires too.

FYI, 19s don't fit on an RS7 and only a few 20 inch wheels fit.

Do you want the very best Ice/Snow handling? Blizzaks. However, be prepared for terrible dry/wet handling.

Did you guys go with the 20x9 +29 or +40 offset?

EDIT: I see now only =29 would work. What size tires did you go with?

I also run WinterSport 3Ds, and really like them.

One additional comment: Consider going at least 1 size narrower than the OEM tires for best snow traction. That's what I did on my previous S4 (245/18s instead of 255/19s) and it was unstoppable and very secure in the white stuff. I went with OEM width and diameter(255/20s) on my current S6, and it's good, too, but not as good as the S4 was.

Last question, what did you do about the TPMS?

I was hoping to reuse tires that have very low miles from my BMW 650. It was AWD but had a staggered setup. Worried about doing this on the Audi.

    245/35/20
    275/30/20

Overall the diameter is nearly identical so it should not hurt anything but its still a concern. Especially because they will both be mounted to the same 9" wide wheels.

If I'm not mistaken, the C7 uses the wheel speed sensors to determine inflation/underinflation, so there are no "pressure sensors" to replace.

Only the RS7 and R8 have TPMS sensors.

I have had Dunlops for my winter tire for a couple years on my previous A8 and will use the same winter wheel tire combo on my new S6 with a spacer. It unfortunately is actually 10mm wider than stock 20 inch S6 wheels (currently have 255 section width summer), but I am not going to buy new wheels for the winter set up. You are correct that slightly narrower tires are recommended for winter set ups- the wider the tire, the more "ski" over the snow effect you get.
The Dunlops are good all around- mix of dry cold and snow/ice.

I put on my new Winter set over the holiday weekend. I ended up just going with a tire rack package that seemed to be the best appearance combined with the best price. Overall I think it looks pretty good for snowshoes!

You're nuts if you're not pulling out your winter vehicle. I really hope you have one! Hell, although I'm just stage 1, I wouldn't dare drive my RS7 on the stock tune in the snow even with snow tires.... I can't...I just can't!!!!

Strongly disagree. Garage queens are for convertibles and 2 seaters. Even with a tune, an RS7 can be driven like a A7 with proper pedal control and self control! For the miserably snowy days, I can drive the wife's car! Living in downtown Chicago we rarely see a commute that isn't already cleared and melted by 9:00am.

Looks good rspengle. Have the same rims with Pirelli Sottozero 3 20" going on in a couple hours - '14 Daytona Grey Pearl. Never driven on these grips previously - what tires are you running?

Pretty sure my RS7 Performance isn't a garage queen...I have multiple vehicles and snow tires for them all. I'd rather drive those than my RS7 during the winter. To each his own!

I'm glad you enjoy your RS7 all year long. Mine will not see snow nor is it depreciating since its a built to my specs which is already extremely rare.. I can say Im one of the very few ppl with a 2016 Mythos Black RS7 Performance that has every option except night vision and the Quattro script and has 4500 miles on it...yeah my cars not going to depreciate much while hibernating...

Lol, is this your first German car? Just thinking about driving it depreciates the value.

Just a word of caution to those who own these, don't damage a wheel because Axis only made this specific set ( Model 2 graphite ) for the Tirerack Winter wheel promotion. I found this out the hard way yesterday when I managed to find a brand new pothole when trying to get around a truck kicking up gravel. I almost sure the wheel is toast (as is the tire) and according to both Tirerack and Axis you can no longer find a new replacement wheel.

That means I have to find four brand new effing wheels and likely a whole new set of tires as well since the wear amounts will differ from new too much to just replace the one tire.

According to many where I live, this has been by far the worst season for potholes in 40 years, just my luck. Amazingly, the tire held the bead so I drove it home and will now switch to Summer wheels, still has not lost any air sitting in the garage.

Pic of wheel and then pothole for insurance company:
