About three weeks ago my check engine light came on siting a bad SAI pump. I went out of town two weeks ago, come back and my battery is dead (factory original 2005). Jumped it, drove it, parked it, turned it off. Tried to start it immediately and it wouldn't turn over. Took it in to get checked thinking it might be the alternator, but bingo pep boys said their machine said the battery should be replaced.
I purchased a Bosch Platinum H6 as I assumed this was the correct unit for my 1.8t. Its a bit smaller than the stock battery. I drove the car for a while, about 20 miles, and everything seemed great. No check engine lights, nothing. I shut it off, turned the ignition to accessory in order to reconnect the keyless entry and I noticed the Check Engine, Battery, EPC and Seatbelt lights were all illuminated.
What do you think is my best course of action and why would the battery light be on when my battery is brand new? Does this mean the alternator could still be bad?
