    TD1 and ECU version

I'm looking at doing an epl stage 1 but my ecu version is 0003 and epl only has 0004 and 0005 stock files available.

Does anyone know if audi will be able to easily identify and hit me with a td1 if I take it back to stock using the version 0004 file? I just took it to the dealership to get updated files but they only updated the tcu file, not the ecu.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

You risk a TD1 regardless of what version of ECU you have, and what tune you apply.

It's my understanding that if the revision number doesn't match what's suppose to be on that particular vehicle then that's a red flag for the td1 if they run that particular scan. But like what was just said, you run the risk regardless.

I just recently brought my s4 in to get something checked, flashed back to stock prior to the visit. After the tech went and looked at something his first question was whether or not I was tuned. He saw something else in the modules that led him to believe this. Might have been my vagcom mods or something else. Either way you run the risk of it.

Why can't EPL just pull your stock version so it's saved for when you want to flash back to stock?

If Audi claims your ECU is up to date then does that mean your box code is different than the ones that received the 004 & 005 versions? I get all the numbers and letters mixed up for the ECUs.

Agreed. They should be backing up your current version as part of the process.

I just spoke with Chris at EPL. They are going to save my stock file. So far, they have been a very responsive company. Just wish I would have started this process sooner.

Hopefully I can get this back by wednesday because then I could report how well this works. The drag strip is only open for one more week.
