    Hi,

    I have a few questions. I have a 2009 A4 B8 3.2L v6 with 2g MMI and Nav.

I got kinda screwed when I purchased the vehicle and I just had to do a carbon cleaning which cost me quite a bit. It's actually in the shop right now. I scanned my car before using VCDS and these are the faults I found. Im hoping someone could shed some light.

^^ I suspect the above is due to carbon deposits

^^ I tried to do some research on this but came up empty handed. What exactly is component protection? I know it can only be removed at a dealer since they need to be connected to some network but do I need to fix this? Does it affect my sound?

Now onto the transmission issue. I've noticed that sometimes ( a decent amount of times) it jerks in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. Higher gears are fine. Usually happens when coming to a stop, or accelerating. I did some research and found this link
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...h-occasionally
I also found this TSB on another page (which I can't locate anymore...) but it references this. Not sure exactly what a TSB is. TSB# is 2021193/1
It is supposed to reset the transmission. Is this doable with vagcom using the instructions in the link just above?

Regarding scan, delete your old errors and make a fresh scan, many old errors which probably have no impact anymore!

Component protection, visit dealer, may affect sound and other functions(probably some modules are replaced, but without dealer visit, some functions are disabled or restricted, depending which modules are changed out).
TSB, visit dealer if this service action is for you, its free of charge, you cant do this with vcds(you can do basic ops with vcds as discraibed on this thread, but always good to use tsb, if its related to your car, as the tsb you reffered has probably sw upgrade also)!

Thanks! I'll clear the faults and scan again when I get the car back.

The vehicle had an accident on it in 2013 on the rear left, which is where the amp is. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Could you elaborate more on TSB? Is the service free even if I'm outside warranty? Is it just a software update?

Yes it must be free as its so to say factory approved action, when something is faulty from factory and discovered later, nothing do to with warranty. I had one tsb done year ago, long time after warranty, it was free. I asked will this tsb action like expiry with time - they said no.

By this thread, looks like its just sw update for trans ecu, so you cant do this with vcds.

You welcome, if your rear was damaged and amp was replaced, then yes, you may have cp active because of that- but its not a 100% fact and you see your driver seat memory cp was activated like 2 weeks after , so clear your faults, drive a bit and make fresh scan, if cp still active(should be) visit dealer!

So I just called my local Audi in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and they said that this tsb isn't covered for free by my VIN :s. They said that it would need to be diagnosed before we do the tsb and there is the standard cost of $149/hr for that. If an issue is found, then they would do the TSB which would be factored into the $149/hr diagnostic cost.

Are they ripping me off or is this right?

I cant comment this(local guys should know better), but your car is 2009 and this tsb was for 2009 tiptronic gearbox, so if this have not been done before you, it must be free, how they diagnose you have faulty software or not, testdrive and checking sw number on your scan for 149 lol. Sry i dont have this tsb or software description data.

Have you any records of gearbox oilchange?

I checked Canadian and us recalls for 09 a4s online and I couldn't find that TSB anywhere.

I bought the car at 118k km and its now 127k km. I dont have any records of gearbox oil change. Is this the same as transmission fluid? Which also may be unchanged

Yes gearbox oil is transmission fluid as audi stated lifetime liquid lol.

I cant comment why there is below mark "warranty", but on top you see related "all vin range", so if you have sw number not as listed on table 021, update should be in my logic free of charge, nothing to diagnose if you dont have updated sw already!

    Hope it helps!

Cheers! I'll show them this page when I head over. The main category of the tsb is 2.0L and not the 3.2 but the charts clearly indicate an update on the 3.2

Its not my scan, as you see you have old sw - Component: 0B6 32 FSIUSA H04 0020 , so this tsb is for you, just lie about all other symptoms also and they must update this for free:), nothing to diagnose there!
    Retrofits: FL taillights / MMI 3G & 3G+(Street view incl.)/ Color Cluster & FL S5 Cluster/ BiXenon/ ADS Lite
    Other: ECU Tune/ VCDS Tweaks/ FL Gearknob/ Soundproofing/ Interior 6D Carbon Wrap/ Rieger Rep Front Bumper Valance/ Basic sound(8) upgrade to "ASS"(9+1) + B/O Sub(in sidepanel)/Tweeters + Activsub/ Efficiency Prog via Cluster & Gateway flash/ Sideskirts/ Window Tint/ Wsp Peeler reps/ License plate & Interior leds

Thanks again. I went to two local Audi dealers. Mississauga and Oakville. Even though I showed them my scan, and the current version, they said that tsb are just bulletins and not covered if the car is out of warranty.

They're saying they would still need to diagnose it at $149/hr and check for transmission faults... Which I know there are none.

I'm going to try and reset my transmission learning through vcds. If that doesn't work, I'm not sure if I want to go to a dealer and do this.

Yep, my fault also, mixed tsb with recall etc...

    http://repairpal.com/blog/recalls-ts...ou-have-to-pay.

There should be somewhere instruction how to make proper adaption yourself for tiptronic and oilchange will not harm also, plenty treads you find here as well. I have done twice sw upgrade to gearbox, it was my choise, i just wanted newer version, so it was from my wallet. As newer c7 have problem with chain noise and there is tsb also, but for high milage cars this sw update did not work. So its up to you, probably after adaption and oilcahnge if nothing improves, you may try tsb also.

There is a noticeable change after adaptation clear!!! Going to drive it for a bit to check it out but its much smoother.

I think I'll skip the TSB for now and see how this plays out. I might just be getting lucky.

    Cheers!

I don't think I want to fork over the cash to change my transmission fluid just yet. Just spent $900 on a carbon cleaning. Thanks for the german link, I understood a decent bit but honestly, my transmission is so much smoother now... I don't even think I need to do anything.

Also, the component protection was gone after I got it back from the dealer! Woohoo!
