Who all is on EPL software? They finished there stg2/tcu, I'm pulling the trigger!

I'm not happy that GIAC won't write me an actual stage 2 file so I think I'm jumping ship. EPL is claiming 35whp increase at the wheel and 55wtq with tune alone above what the stage 1 tune is. He told me they'll throw in the TCU tune as well if I switch and give me a money back guarantee if I'm not happy, I'll report back once it's installed.

Are they saying anything about needing the downpipes to get the stated stage 2 increases?

2.75 - 3 inch down pipes are required. Alpha Performance is our preferred downpipe.

Currently ONLY the 014B file is complete for beta testing.

I'm calling to confirm here in just a bit but I'm fairly certain thats the case. I know who's car they used to do the stage 2 because I sold him my Milltek turbo back catless DP's, he had the Roc Euro intake as well.

Hey Tony, do you have stg1 vs stg 2 w/ downpipe dyno graph you could share? Curious where those gains are at in the rpm range, assume mostly all low to mid range and very little after 5K rpm, similar to what has been obtained with other software and downpipes.

We honestly weren't ready to release information until next week. Peak torque gains were in the low/mid range, but HP gains carried out very nicely to the shift.

I just bought everything today but won't have it installed right away. My plan is to get to a 4 wheel dyno and get some real numbers on my GIAC and also flash back to stock all together and get a pull or two. Then load the EPL and Dyno again in a couple days once it's adapted. The problem is the only 4 wheel dyno is 150 miles from me so it's not easy logistically with a wife, kids and work!

look forward to seeing the results, should be interesting between stock, GIAC and EPL. Shame the four wheel dyno is so far away.

go with the unitronic pipes, they are catted and cheaper than both APR and AMS

I was thinking Unitronic downpipes if going EPL but they're 2.5 inch compared to what EPL wants, 2.75-3

You won't see any noticeable power difference between any of the catted down pipes available on the market. Epl had/has? a relationship with ams which is most likely why they recommend their parts. ( don't get me wrong, the ams parts are to notch but in this situation your just paying for the name and not for any additional performance or features)

Both AMS & Unitronic downpipes seems to have the the cats in the stock location. I would expect they would be easier to tune and operate better with the stock tune compared to Miltek & APR. Maybe they would not flow as well though?

the stage 2 tune is amazing. So far i am VERY happy with it. I have not been able to drive the car much but, I will be at the track hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

Chris and Tony are amazing. I finally got a chance to meet them and speak with them and they are great guys. I am VERY happy with their work and everything they have done.

The car off the bat feels more powerful and just sounds like the true V8TT beast that it is.

Unitronic catted DPs for the price might be the way to go. From there site they're claiming no issues with emissions either.

Ive also thought of this, I have a neighbor that does custom exhaust fabrications and takes pride in it.
Also helps that I've seen his work on his 9 sec supra and some rx7s lol.

what are you're guys thoughts on decatted? Any issues arise besides emissions? Chris, tony?

Most of totally misread that. For some reason I had in my mind that Unitronic dps had no need for a cel delete.

Dan, You've got to be the Beta car, you're the only one remotely close that's already stage 3. Drive up and leave it with them for a couple weeks. I can get you a couple buddy passes to get you home then back again to pick it up. Plus your stage 3 software will be free...

The most important part of any of these Catted DP's are which cats they use. They are worth extra monies for better ones. Anybody know who uses what?

Not much info, but It would appear AMS & APR use the same brand of Cat.

AMS: Premium 300 cell GESI race catalytic converters

    APR: GESI’s encapsulated catalysts

    https://www.goapr.com/products/apr_e...npipe_40t.html

Milltek: Secondary 200-CPSI Hi-Flow Sports Catalyst
    http://www.millteksport.com/exhaust....?variantid=404

For custom, one might chose this one: http://www.jegs.com/i/Vibrant-Perfor.../7830/10002/-1

There's got to be some stage 3 guys in the tri state area who can get to CT a lot easier than I can. That's a long drive from central OH.

Disagree, all those catted dp have different design and there is a reason why I paid (discounted) shipping cost of $500 USD to Australia for the APR cast dp.
I am sure most people will agree AMS & APR has the better air flow design compare to cross section of Milltek/Unitronic due to their dp is straight downward. I been told curve or bent you on the piping you lose HP.
AMS & APR both also used the best available GESI cat which is rated 500hp per side and will provide smooth power up to 1000hp. Milltek/Unitronic uses unknown brand which doesn't specify max power output, EPA certified, warranty and capability of withstand up to x degree.

What made me choose APR over AMS is due to the fact that their cat is near the mid pipe which have the benefit of cooler air=more power because cat is further away from the engine which generate less heat compare to AMS which is right behind the turbo.

Cat in the dp is better for emissions. Dp is hotter therefore burns cleaner
Cat further down stream of the exhaust is better for flow ie performance
Cat is also a muffler so further away will increase the exhaust volume

I don't have comparison between APR vs AMS however I do have APR vs Milltek.
My mate who did the same APR stage3 as me with RS7 turbo on S7, same 265 pilot super sport running Milltek catted dp tire ran 11.33@124mph which is clearly lower than my APR dp 11.15@127

All the mods are the same exact dp

Until I see someone do back to back comparing the downpipe, I'll stick with my statement for the current power levels. A 2.5" downpipe will support 500hp.

I will look into the catalyst used by unitronic though

The larger RS turbos would benefit more on larger DPs for sure

Sax, are you considering Unitronic dps?

already have them, for the power goals they seem more than adequate
