    Thoughts on this 2010 A4?

Hey guys, I'm just curious on what your thoughts are on this 2010 A4 Premium. I'm currently in a 2014 Jetta SE and I'm looking at getting back into an Audi. Many reasons, first born, Jetta was bought new so high car payment, AWD for the winters. This shop is an extremely reputable shop/dealer around where I live. I have the day off so I may take the hour drive and go check it out. I'll be bringing some cash to put down If I like it and not really financing a whole lot of $$$. I wouldn't mind talking them to closer to $10k but the current price I think is pretty on point? PCV and tensioners done which is a plus.

I wouldn't do it. That's a lot of miles, I bought my 2010 with 60K miles and it already had loads of problems. If you do wanna do it just ask if the oil consumption was fixed on this first cause 2010 and 2009 had tons of cars fucked up. Me personally I'd never downgrade in years, if you do wanna downgrade get a B8.5 model or look for a premium plus model with the HID lights.

Thanks for the input, I think I may at the very least go and check it out. It'll be tempting as I'd be going from a $350/mo payment down to about $150. I'll ask about the oil consumption issue and if it's been addressed .I also don't drive a lot, in the 30 months I've owned my Jetta SE I've put 14k miles on it! In hindsight, a lease probably would have been a better option.

Do a leakdown test,he changed the tensioner already, make sure you bring it to a reliable mechanic for a inspection. If all is good it's your choice to go from a newer car to a older car.Not all older Audis are a ticking time bomb for engine failure, with hundred of thousands of B7/B8/B8.5 on the road a small percentage has the oil issues and tensioner issues.

Don't do it. You will be replacing the higher car payment with a fairly significant repair risk relating to oil consumption. Even if you can get all the service records on this car there were many B8s that, even after the oil consumption fix was completed, still had many issues related to the fix itself.....ask me how I know.

I bought a similar car for about the same price except it is a P+ and came with all the options below and had the stage 2 oil consumption fix. I shelled out $500 to do the tensioner.

Make sure to do a carfax.

You can find a 2011 Premium Plus (which comes with HIDs and tri-zone climate control) for around the same price. Hard pass on the one you posted. They added the 8-speed auto for 2011, and the odds of oil consumption issues were greatly reduced. This is coming from a former 2009 Premium owner.

The only thing going for that car is the manual transmission and quattro.
It has the crappy light and high mileage. If the chain tensioner and accessories along with the piston and rings were completed then the price is right.
