Its finally time that I put together my build thread for my SQ5. Had it a few months now – I bought it used in the middle of May. I’m well into the upgrades now and heading towards a stopping point for now. So here we go…

Here it is at the Volvo dealer I found it at. First time seeing it in person.



Took it to my normal photo spot at the time.



So stock wasn’t going to last long and quickly I made my first mods to the engine bay: Porsche Coolant cap, R8 Oil cap, Billet windshield washer cap, 034 intake hose, and ECS CF engine covers.



Next up I had KW HAS springs, and all the 034 inserts installed at 034 since they are local to me.



After that I added the AWE S-FLO CF Intake.




So I couldn’t handle it being so quiet so on went the AWE exhaust.



That didn’t satisfy me so I had to put on the Brembo Brakes.




Painted the rear caliper red to go with the Brembo’s up front.



Next thing on the list was Ceramic Pro coating and tinted all windows including the sunroof (no windshield)




Then I noticed that I didn’t get the AWE exhaust tips aligned well so I did that and painted the rear valance black.



Finally I was able to install my ecodes and all my parts for my black optics conversion – painted mirror caps and BO front grilles. Also installed the 034 Rear Sway Bar at the same time.



Once all of that was done I flashed the car and went with EPL stage 1 tune. What a difference that makes! I have had that a few days at this point and I am still surprised at how much more fun it is to drive. Last up I am getting wheels. I put in the order on Monday October 3rd. Getting Brixton Forged and I can’t wait to put up pics of them! So that will be about it for now. I am sure something else will creep in but its not planned at this moment.

Very nice Conor! I'm so pumped to see the Brixton's. Luckily, I'll see the pics first ;) I've been meaning to ask, how easy is it to remove the rear valence regarding sensors? I need to black mine as well. I'd considering blacking the faces of the rear resonators

Sonoma. There was a HPDE on friday, but registration is closed. There's a meet/audi cars n coffee sunday 8-12. its all the way at sonoma raceway though. Its 1.5 hour drive, so i'm on the fence.

That's every bit of +5hp all by itself. 😝

You will have pics first for sure! I will probably send you more than I did for the Volks for the RS5 (which I love). For the sensors on the rear valance...no problem. I am thinking I missed it but I didn't see where to disconnect the wire harness from the body. So I I had to remove the wire harness as I removed the valance. The valance is easy and comes off just like on the RS5, but I had a short distance to remove the wire harness. The sensors themselves pop out no problem and are easy to paint. But for the most part it was simple except for the couple of clips that just didn't want to let go of the harness the first time. And for the the rear resonators, they have been painted black already.

Thanks! We are definitely close! You have a little bit more CF though! Yours is looking mighty mean with the back wheels and all. Very interested in your feedback from the coil overs as you ride on them more. I will probably switch up my suspension next year. Your pics of your engine are really what reminded me to put this up. We are almost the same! You need the washer fluid cap to finish it off.

Its tough holding in my wheel selection but I am going to try. Been working on these with Mops for a bit now.

Forgot to mention up front, but all of this was made possible by team supreme. Big thanks to Mops@supremepower, Tam, and Eric at Supreme. Been a blast working together on both my cars. Once I get the Brixtons on I am going to try to get some time off and come down to the shop again.

Great thread, Conor! Your car looks really sweet and I bet it drives like a dream with the tune as well. Can't wait to see your new Brixton's! Hard to picture right now but I guess we'll just have to wait ;)

So far so good on the coilovers.
I bough the KWHAS, but sent them back after working with Mops and S-Fore on the Bilsteins.

I was really worried I'd get a lot of bounce with the stock shocks, and the B8s won't fit the HAS.
So I just got a system that worked together.

It's tight, responsive, and not bouncy.
You can feel the road for sure. But I can always dial down the dampers.

Here is a render of what my new wheels will look like. 22x10.5 with ET24 up front and 20 rear. Bronze face with DDT lip and and hardware. I'm going to run a 295/30/22 PSS tire with these. If all goes well i should have these on by first week of December. I'll share pics of the wheels in process as I get them.

Well, as many of you know my house burned down a month ago (today). So things for me are going to change and I am going to put more money to the house instead of my cars. So I am moving on to a 2018 SQ5 now. Just ordered today!! So its time to sell a couple things. The first things I want to sell are the Brembo's and the EPL tune. Anyone in SF Bay area want to swap their stock SQ5 brakes/rotors/lines + $$$ for my Brembo's? Only a few thousand miles on them as I have only had them for a few months. I have a stage 2 tune file from EPL that I can sell as well. Never installed the belt and pulley though and only stayed on stage 1. I may have a buyer for the KW coils and exhaust already but I am open to offers. I will put up some ads in the classified section soon. Going to hold the Brixtons for install on the new SQ5. Also selling my RS5 if anyone is interested in that too!

Dang that's tempting, If you were in Denver I would be all over it. Would not be an easy swap with shipping.

Thanks everyone! Super excited for the new car. Going to miss the RS5 but going to enjoy living in a nicer house!! Thanks for interest in the parts. I'm closing in on having a home for the brakes soon. But still looking to find someone more local if I can. But if not @jaboki like I said I will make our trade work!

I believe that this is the cable but not 100%. Its definitely a Drewtech mongoose if I remember right but I dont remember the model number.

So in talking with Mops and EPL the tune can only be sold one time by the original owner. So Mops is going another route. So the tune is up for sale and I would like to sell it as a stage 2 with the pulley if we can. Let me know if your customer is interested.
