    Question for those with USP rs5 grill

    I had recently purchased the usp motorsports rs5 style front grill. Quality is great very happy with the purchase. My body shop has just called and asked about the install. They are saying that there is no support behind the grill. The stock support will not fit it. I assume this is normal and that's what gives it the nice clean agresssive look. My question to you all is this normal? The grill is just fastened to the bumper and no other support correct?

    There's a foam support behind the stock grill. Most people who went with aftermarket rs5 grill ran without the foam support and paint/dip their crash bar.

    Yup he's right. That's what I did. Paint is better, I found the dip to start peeling from road debris.

    I took a hack saw and cut off a small bit to have it install with the grill I purchased. Or just paint/plastidip it.

    If you don't it will look like crap.

    I told him to definitely paint the crash bar black He was just curious as to why no support. He said a tiny bit of weight or pressure would easily crack the grill. I told him it seemed normal and to continue the install without any support

    I just installed my RS5 Rep yesterday from USP and my grille came with the black cover for the crash bar. Btw. The grille is on sail for $219 😁

    It was shipped to the body shop so I'm not sure if they received cover or not. And It was purchased between two sales its was 250 then went to 299 then went to 219. Oh well. Some days chicken some days feathers.

    On my A4 same situation i didnt use the foam but i did have a euro plate which is support. 2 winters in a big ice chunk took out a bit of the grille. not terrible but noticable.

    UPS comes with the black bar behind the grille so you don't need to paint the crash bar. and you don't use the oem foam support. it does feel fragile, however, it is pretty sturdy. never had any issues of it cracking or anything
