Hey everyone, i have been a member on Audizine for long time but most of my time has been around B5 and B7 section, after having numerous issues with B7 i got rid of it and told myself never to buy another Turbo powered Audi. I still have my B5 V6 2.8L with only 120k miles and still working flawlessly but i came across this A4 and i fell in Love it right away, it well maintained and all the service records available, recently all the fluids were replaced and it has a brand new turbo on it.

2009 A4 Quattro Premium Plus with 94k Miles, asking price is $12,950 but i can get it for $12k, is it a good deal..

Kind of hard to tell you that without the following:

Options list (MMI; Sport Package; etc)?
Oil Consumption Fixes - were they done?
Serviced where? - Records are great, but quality depends on who completed the work IMO
    Any mods?
    Accidents?

New turbo is a plus, but the oil consumption would be my major concern here.

Yes it does have the sport package, i was told it burns a quart at 7500 miles which that dont sound bad at all so in other words no oil consmpution fixes were initiated, no mods, no accidents and two owners.

How can you tell if the seller is lying? If oil consumption repair was not done for 2009 model then it most likely has that problem. Also it's at 90k milage near the mileage where the timing chain can break.if I were you I will avoid it. And look for lower milage or car with repair record for the oil consumption and timing chain.

Definitely there is no way of tell if the seller is lying or not, it is sold by independent dealer but it is sold "as is". So thats why i wanted more opinion on this, i asked why the turbo was replaced this early they told me it had a leak.

    Thanks

Ask where the work was done. Call shop with vin and confirm repairs. Turbo probably was replaced due to boost leak, underboost aka loose wastegate. Thats high mileage and id be wary' youd have to drive it for a couple of miles to see if you notice anything different in all gears including reverse. Do the shifts kick or hesitate? Was the tranny oil changed? Brakes flushed? Any fluid leaks? When is the last time the plugs and coil packs were changed. Are the motor mounts good? Drive fast hit the brakes hard. How is your undercarriage? Yoir shields are probably toast. Vag the car' check for misfires and other known issues. You are nearing the 120k limit for the fuel injector warranty. Past the turbo warranty' and i think the oil consumption warranty just expired.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news...but imagine grabbing the car at that price point. Then next week you have to drop a grand for this' then a grand for that. Then something else, shit will start adding up and youll regret it.

skip, 09's are way to problematic, and that price isnt great, i would rather you buy a newer one with higher miles than that one.

Alright so i called them up and the more question i asked the less answers i got. The only service record that they have is brake, power steering fluid and turbo replaced and thats about it that were done somewhere local mechanic.

The salesmen told me he is selling the car for one of his employees, so he doesn't have much more information.

Thanks, that is one the reasons why i wanted to ask for advice in here, i had too many issues with my B7 and i was so relieved when i got rid of it, definitely do not want to go through the same crap again.

The car looks great, but it looks like it can come with problems.
If you have to get a '09. Make sure it is below 80k miles and has service records. This way you can get the piston/rings and Chain tensioner all fixed before the 8yr/80k warranty is up.

And then replace the timing chain. But you might still have oil consumption issue... Depends on your budget and risk factor, you might be better off skipping this one.

Yeah that's a lot of red flags. They should have no problem giving you that info if the work was done when they said and what parts were repaired can be proven. The fact that you want to verify your purchase has scared them off, and that alone is indicating at some sort of hidden issue. You didn't say anything about a 30-90 day money back or "repairs at their cost" warranty from them either... which is kinda of strange.

I don't buy that whole I'm selling it for an employee, bullshit either.

I think you made the right choice in skipping this one, too many things can go wrong without proper documentation of services performed. The last thing I'd hate for you to do is jump into another scenario like you just experienced with the b7.

    Good luck

Come on the 09's are not that bad! I'm getting tired of folks just bashing them. I had my issues but all cars have them.

    I wouldn't pay 12 for that 09 that's for sure

    I have a 09 3.2 liter, no problems. You probably want a turbo, but a V6 isn't a bad choice either.

Thats a great choice mfdk, try to get a certified pre owned so you have an extended warranty and peace of mind. Look up the tsbs on the onesbyou are looking to buy with the vin. Then make a desicion with as much info as you can get your hands on. These really are great vehicles and a joy to drive in any weather. Just have to maintain them so they remain a reliable vehicle.

Lol and im not bangin on the b8 a4 I have a 09 b8' just got the tranny redone, new turbo, new tires and rims, bought the ecs street shield, bought the wifi vagcom, new bulbs, new battery, a battery tender plus, new epb module, getting the accessory belt and pulley plus the timing chain done this weekend and might throw on my rs4 grill and fog light grills i have in the basement collecting dust. Minor but still important stuff like oil change, alignment and brake flush.

Want to do the power steering flush soon. Need an mmi screen cause my backlight is dead...want to upgrade sw on the radio head.

Spent a little over 10k since march of this year. Trust me I love the b8 a4, otherwise i would have gotten a new one.

I actually have my eyes set on the new ttrs when it hits the states. That will be my next audi.

Glad you found something, but just curious.... how do you put up with that 2-tiered navigation? I can't understand why Acura and Infiniti thinks it's a good look. I much prefer the clean interior styling of the B8.

I love technology...and i think i have a.d.d. so the 2 screens are soothing to my psyche. Along with the other tech goodies the ack has....im satisfied. What i despise though is the favoritism towards apple. See when you connect a apple device, whatever is playing on the iphone will display on the acura. Connect an galaxy s7, galaxy s7 edge or a note 5, and youbget unsopported format but the audio will play. That irks the shit out of me. I havent tried that galaxy note 7 but since its the same chipset as the s7 and s7 edge...i really dont think it qill work either.

The only thing i hated about the ack was that the brakes squealed, but they changed my rotors at valley stteam acura after visitng wantagh acura.....wantagh said that the squealing was within spec and that it could be the humidity in the air. Valley stream changed rotors + pads and havent heard a peep from them during rainy or sunny days.

Thats pretty much my only gripe.....satisfied with the vehicle.

I love my b8 though. It got me through superstorm sandy and the blizzards of 2012. No hiccups no getting stuck anywhere. Just turn on and drive.

Right with you. I've had my 2009 3.2L for about a year and a have. Bought it with 52,000 and have put on 20,000 on it. No problems

IMO $12K with 90K+ miles is too much. Around $9K sounds better

    It's a good disclaimer, the only 09 to buy is a 3.2.
