Need some urgent help regarding Mechantronic DSG and Stassis tune and an $18,000 fix.

Hi guys. I havent been around since 2015. I gave my car to my dad so he could drive around when hes in town. Anyways last weekend he left the lights on and the battery died. I installed a brand new battery (i generally buy new ones after a 0 level ocurrence) started up the car and the car would not reverse. Warning lights came on so I had it towed to the dealership. They called me up and said I had modified the software so it couldn't be done under warranty. Car is already 5 years old so I figured as much, even with less than 20,000 miles. So I asked how much. $6,000 %^&*^*(ing dollars! WHAT. I live in a foreign country so figure everything cost 50-60% more, *EDIT I forgot to do currency conversion its. 3/1. I was wondering if any Stassis owners who had the flash done in an AUDI shop would mind sending me their invoice or recepit because that would help a lot. Ill even pay for you to scan and send me a copy.....

    So many thanks in advance

I can't read it completely, but it looks like they are charging you $14,619.50 just for the mechtronics software?? I would buy a vag com cable, pull your codes and post them up for better assistance. A transmission doesn't just go bad because the battery died so somethings not right here brotha.

Well maybe the DSG Software was corrupted - but maybe a tuner can simply load a new tune and DSG Tune? EPL has flash from home - so that may be an alternate option?

Although I would agree - seems odd that the Transmission is now bad from a dead battery.....

The Stasis tune would be ECU not TCU anyway - not sure why they are giving you such a hard time?

Did you get error message that came up? or just lights came on? I would be helpful to know the other items. It seems absurd that they are charging you for the TCU tune THAT much

I think Stasis has a TCU tune as well. My car shifts at 6,800 RPMs instead of the stock 6,500

I also have a limitless launch counter.

Doing a quick google search on the code pulls up this: http://oemwolf.com/oem-parts/8k5927156q.html

Looks like ~$1,900 and includes the DSG, connector and tune?

I doubt you need a new DSG though, as others have said find someone with VCDS, log and clear all the codes.

Then make sure the new battery is charged and is an OEM approved one. (They have stupid sensors in them I believe)

Reset the ECU and see if the issues go away.

Might also be worth charging up the old one, connecting it and seeing if the issues go away.

The battery needs to be coded in the system or it will not work correctly.... this is because of the power management system, and if the battery shows bad you'll need to program the system for the new battery. Many have said that you only need to copy the old code from the Vag-Com (battery) settings and change the number by 1.

actually , the car picks up and re-adapts the battery regardless of coding
it's been debunked in a few threads

I asked Audi to flash the TCU and they responded that any input to the ECU might fry the electronics and they were not responsible. (ie they will fuck it up on purpose and try to sell me a new ECU) So I think I have a solution but want some experts to chime in. I have a local APR dealer who's willing to flash the TCU at the dealer. He was very helpful and openly told me there have been cars that have needed a mechatronics change and that if he did the flash and it didnt work he would still have to charge me the APR fee. So what do you guys think.

Be careful as the individual battery's status will have an effect on how bad (or eventless) the swap will be. If VW mandates recoding, I would do it. Check here for information on how to recode a battery.

yes you can get away without coding the battery , the BEM will recognize the new output over time and clear

i've seen plenty people replace batteries and not code the new battery and drive off with no issues , this includes 2 b8 s4 owners local to me who've done it

one of them used a smaller lightweight track battery without issues to this day
