Emissions Recall on 2012-2016 3.0L TFSI

I just received a letter from AofA regarding an emissions recall on certain 2012-2016 Audis equipped with the 3.0L TFSI engine. Letter says on some engines manufactured during a certain period the diagnostic thresholds for the catalytic converters were programmed to tightly in the ECM software. As a result, a malfunction indicator light may come on even though the catalytic converters are working property. If the light's on, the car won't pass emissions inspection. The fix is to install updated ECM software. You can check if this or any other recall affects your car from the Recall/Service Campaign Lookup tool at www.audiusa.com with your VIN.

Could this potentially cause TD1 flagging if I have the fix done? Anyone have any idea?

Mostly worried about the tune. The SA already said they were fine with intake/exhaust mods.

Yeah, My SA said they're cool with pretty much anything but a tune, but that they prefer to know what mods are done to the car ahead of time. Exhaust, suspension, intake, etc. All of that stuff they're okay with if you're up front about it.

If you have a tune you'll have to flash your car back to stock before you bring it in otherwise you'll get flagged TD1. Then once done have your tune flashed back. Difficult part now going forward is if you need to bring the car back in for service you'll have to get it flashed back to stock that HAS THE NEW UPDATE, something the tuners will have to have available. Otherwise they'll see something is amiss as it will not have the new update and you could get flagged TD1 cause you messed with the ECM

If my check engine light stays off, I may just skip this.

Got my letter last week. Car runs great and I have no intention of letting them F with it unless it throws a code like they describe.

I think someone mentioned in the similar thread in the S4 section that this update was only warrantied for a limited time. Might be worth checking with your service department.

I've thought about this, too, considering the update wipes out all of your VAGCOM changes, if the technician just clicks OK to all of the reset prompts during the update.

The letter from AofA contains this statement:

"IMPORTANT! Please note that if the ECM in your vehicle has been "chipped," "tuned," or otherwise modified from original factory specifications with aftermarket components and/or software, work need to repair, replace, or return the ECM to original factory specifications is NOT covered under this action."

    If they can tell.
