I went APR Stage 1 today w/ Dongle

It has been said before but deserves to be said again...Holy Crap! The 4.0 TFSI is unleashed.

During light throttle the engine feels 100% stock.

During a long, steady moderate acceleration from 20 to 75 you can tell the engine has more oomph and you can feel the turbo spool up faster somewhere between 2,200 RPM and 3,000 RPM.

Going 50 MPH and smashing the throttle to 3/4 the DSG quickly downshifts and the engine just comes alive. It leaps forward as the rear end gets squeezed on the air suspension and Quattro system clawing on the tarmac. Next thing you know you are headed straight for 100 MPH if you don't lift the throttle quick.

    It truly is an experience.

I also picked up the dongle and it's really interesting watching the different parameters build like boost or engine temperature in intake temperature, etc.

I am very excited about this upgrade. I only wish I would have done it sooner. But I am 150% happy I have it on my car.

I got a APR tune on my 2010 B8 S4 with the 3.0 TFSI at 25,000 miles. I sold that car at 150,000 miles and the engine was running perfectly, not burning oil, etc. I keep in touch with who bought my car and it now has over 180,000 miles on it.

Thank you APR for another great product!!!

Rock solid. I had a door sensor go out at about 10,000. That was it. It never went back to the dealer except for scheduled maintenance and the early recall of the t stat and water pump. Absolutely loved that car.

welcome! you've got a great car and its a nice step up from the B8 which is a great car already. How you liking the seats in this, amazing aren't they?
Did you get a dyno before and after?
Do APR stage 1 really make 160+BHP peak above stock, that would make it pushing 620hp? Or is that max gains just curious?

It looks like the 165 HP & 178 torque is max gains over the stock curve.
    So specifically:
    +165 HP @ 4,300 RPM
    +178 FT-LBS @ 3,600 RPM
Max HP is shown as 574 and max TQ is 639.
Since the staged numbers are "as measured by APR" we have to use their stock 489HP/447TQ measured by APR. That's a 85HP peak increase & 192TQ peak increase although not at exactly the same RPM presumably.

I agree. I think the APR numbers are very accurate. They are quoting the stock HP at 489 which is 39 Hp over Audi claims. I believe the numbers they post are legit. I didn't dyno before or after but my butt dyno seems to agree.

Welcome to the club! Nice decision, I've been tuned for 35k with zero issues - this is a no brainer. Now I'm trying to decide on stage 2/3, not entirely sure the high flow cats on the APR downpipes will pass emissions, I've heard mixed reviews.

Wonder if the AMS downpipes will pass emissions? At least they are located in the stock location. A visual inspection could be a problem.

Congrats on the upgrade. I believe we may be APR twins. I also got the ECU/TCU on 10/4. Wow, what a difference. The car pulls so much harder when you step down on the pedal. Also, in D, the lower gears are held longer so now I can actually stay in D when I'm in bumper to bumper traffic. When is stock, I had to shift to S in bumper to bumper traffic to keep the gap to the car in front of me narrow enough so nobody would be tempted to cut in (hey, that's NJ driving). Yesterday I did three quick 0-60 accelerations on the 93 program just using dynamic mode, transmission in "S", stability programs and A/C off, and flooring the gas pedal (no launch control). The difference to stock was immediately obvious. I attached a chart from my VBOX Sport below to illustrate. The red line is a decent run I did previously the same way in stock (5.07s 0-60 mph). My best result in stock was 4.97s (again, just flooring it without using launch control). The tree runs on the APR stage 1 93 program were between 3.85s and 4.12s. That is a full second faster than stock. I'm very happy with this result and just hope I can avoid TD1 while still under warranty.

Went back to imgur and shared picture with community. Not sure if that will make a difference. The picture works for me on my laptop when I right-click on it and open it in a new tab. It doesn't work for me on my phone. Below is a link to the picture on imgur. Hopefully that will work.
