If it comes out I would be surprised to see it in a wide body format.

At this stage i cant see an RS model coming out, likely just an S model

No, we don't want the RSQ5 here. If it does come, then there is no chance for the RS4 Avant to come. RS4 Avant > RSQ5

Isn't the RSQ5 somewhat of a foregone conclusion? Things can change of course, but didn't the head of Audi NA state pretty definitively in a recent interview that they are expanding the RS line up, to include an RSQ5 among others.

I don't think there was explicit details of what RS models would be coming. Just that there is going to be 6-7, iirc.

The longer a child is in a rear facing seat, the safer they are, that is why there are more rear facing seats now that can support kids that are >20lbs. The longer they are in them the better. If they can make it in a rear facing seat till they get close to 12 months, that ideal.

that is true, my baby girl is 2 ½, 2nd on its way.

    SQ5 is tight but I ❤️ it.

Thanks for posting the car seat info! I'm looking to get another one soon.

We have the Cico zip car seat from Target... gift cards to spend, but I really want a Sparco seat, but I'm nervous to pull the trigger, can't find many people with them to get a solid review.

I do have to say, having gone thru baby stage w/4 kids (insert comment about being fucking crazy here) the rear-facing seat was easier with every one of them. Once u turn them around and they can see u, the neediness factor increases HUGE

I thought the same thing until we switched to the Diono Radians. We have our 3 1/2 year old front facing on the rear passenger side and our almost 2 year old rear facing in the middle position. Leaves the outboard position for another passenger and it's comfortable for both of us up front.

In California they must be rear-facing until they're 2 unless the child weighs 40 or more pounds OR is 40 or more inches tall, or until the reach the height/weight limit of the seat rear-facing. Our daughter went rear-facing at 21-months since she was already above the 1-inch mark on the Recaro we had at the time.

    Dude you're giving me hope!!!!!

How'd you use outside AND middle? I thought the LATCH points wouldn't be available for the middle once the outside ones are used... are you using the belt to secure? Pic?

We ought to have a Dad's club sticky. Good idea.

I know it says not to borrow latch from both sides, but I do. Keep the kiddo (only 1) in the middle since that's the safest place. I latch and belt it in. It's tight.

Wife wants him rear facing for a while. At least 2 or longer. Even tho it makes the seats take up more room. It's a neck/whiplash issue that could kill them easily. And my boy is almost 14 months old.

She likes the transitional ones, so you can keep them reclined back and change them upright over time.
Rear facing sucks for taking up room in the car tho. You almost have to have them in the middle or you won't have enough clearance from the front seats. (I'm 6'3"+).

In the SQ5 it's not nearly as bad as my wife's Q3. Holy crap. The ONLY spot it can be is the middle. It won't fit otherwise. And it only works in there when she drives because she's a foot shorter than me. I can't drive her car and have baby in the seat in her car.

RS Q5!!!!!!!!! Please come to the US...

I considered the Diono Radian and the Clek Fllo when we were first car seat shopping. Clek and Diono seem to be two of the highest regarded car seat manufacturers out there and you can't go wrong with either. We ultimately got the Fllo (honestly in part for aesthetics with a specific fabric pattern) and will probably get a second one for our newest family addition. The Fllo supports rear facing up to 50 lbs and is pretty narrow at 17".

FYI I don't think it's recommended to use latch in the center position on the Q5. You're better off using the seat belt, because if the car manufacturer doesn't list a center latch position, then it wasn't designed for it and hasn't been tested by them. I think there's a misconception that latch is safer than a seat belt installation which isn't the case. You also shouldn't use both latch and the seat belt together unless the car seat specifically says it's supported. The seats are designed and tested to handle impacts and distribute force with the supported installation methods, and having two installation points could compromise that design.

I'll get off my car seat soapbox now!

I appreciate that man. My wife was just saying how much she had been thinking about the borrowing of LATCHes as well. We're going to stop doing that.

I still have my boy in his infant seat (Chicco Keyfit) , but he is outgrowing it. She's already transitioned to the Chicco NextFit, but she doesn't like it. And the baby hates it.

So I just ordered this a minute ago. Going to give it a go.

    Diono Rainier (in Glacier Blue)
And also picked up the Diono seat wedge adjuster so I can play with fitment.

We looked at both the Radian RXT and the Rainier. The Rainier is the next evolution from the Radian, and my wife and I agreed we liked the head support, and side impact support better on it, even though the sides are a bit wider. The depth and base are the same, and we don't need to fit 3 across or anything crazy like that.

We looked at the Fllo as well, but she didn't like the narrowness of the sides.

This is the most important Mod I can make to my car.

Also, I find it hilarious that a thread on the potential RSQ5 has turned into the Dad's club/baby seat thread.

How'd you use outside AND middle? I thought the LATCH points wouldn't be available for the middle once the outside ones are used... are you using the belt to secure? Pic?
Yes, using belt to secure both...as mentioned you can't use LATCH in the middle position, and my daughter is over the weight limit for using the LATCH points. I also never felt I could get the seat as secure with the LATCH connectors.

    Anyone using this?
We're using the RXT in the middle position, and the R120 outboard.
