Grille question for the millionth time

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have an 07 s6 and I have been searching and searching on here and google for the exact answer and just don't have the concrete answers to feel comfortable buying a grille. So here they are:

    1. The listings on eBay show some that fit 05-11 and some show 08-11. Same thing or just worded differently?

    2. Has anybody bought one with the silver edges? If so how did you like it?

    3. How much modification do I need to do to get the grill in there?

I have to remove my front bumper anyways to fix my adaptive headlight error so I'm just going to make a weekend of it.

Pictures would be great! Thanks in advance!

Grille question for the millionth time

Grills from 05-11 are interchangeable but there is a difference in how they are mounted. IIRC 05-08 use clips to hold the grill in the bumper and 09-11 use screws.
If you get a grill that is within these model years you will be fine but may have to make a slight modification to the grill (may have to remove clips).
When you say "silver edges" are you talking about chrome or the brushed edges like in the Alu-Optic package that would match your S6 mirrors?

Sorry to piggyback your thread but I'm also looking for info.

Does anyone know of a silver trim, silver honeycomb (RS style), facelift C6 grill?

I've only seen one from China but I can't navigate the page even after google's 'translate page' option. Other than that I've never found honeycomb in anything other than black.

    Cheers.

Im talking about the aluminum look like the mirrors. I found a couple on eBay for like $180. Has anybody bought one? Does it look close or does it look cheap?

Also would like to know what you guys are going with your s6 emblem. Do you have to buy another one or reusing your old one?

I bought one and it doesn't look cheap. Only reason I'm contemplating not installing it is due to the amount of chrome and the new wheel set.

As stated above by SinCityA6, the 05-08 uses screws to attach to the bumper, the 09-11 uses clips, but still has the screw holes so it can be mounted to the earlier bumper. You have to cut the clips off the grille to get it to sit flush if I remember correctly.

Wow that's nuts, I just looked on their website and if your search for a grill for the s6 that one doesn't show up. You have to look for an a6. They are the same thing. I thinks that's weird

There is definitely some cutting required on the vehicles plastics to get the grille to fit. But it's wasn't very difficult and an angle grinder did the job in no time.

You will also want to spray paint the steel bumper assembly which sits behind the grille a black color and make sure you hit it with a few coats, since this will show through prominently if you don't.

+1 on the bumper!! If I may make a suggestion; wrap the bumper in black vinyl wrap instead of painting. I painted mine and in a short time, the rock chips were showing (it is amazing how much abuse the front of the car takes). I then wrapped mine and have had zero issues.

Thanks. I'm debating if I should put the rings on or not.

This particular grill has the rings mount like the OE grill so the emblem just snaps into place on the ring mount

Damn, mine didn't come with the ring mount. It was just the plain grill. Maybe i'll end up gluing the rings on cause yours looks pretty clean.

I'd look into seeing if you can just get a mount. Glueing it may look tacky and you wouldn't want to ruin the grill
