    Podi Mechanical Boost Gauge Install

Searched high and low through these fourms looking for an answer, but found close to zero info on a mechanical boost gauge install. I am installing the gauge on the steering wheel, do I still need the fume filter? And who's I just use the supplied wire to extend the wires from the back of the gauge since (I think) there's no boost sender? I am following the AWE install but mine is slightly different due to it being on the steering wheel. No instructions came from podi. It seems simple but simple scares me with these cars.

I am using the Podi mechanical gauge. I have the filter installed in line with my boost reference to the gauge, which on my 1.8t is tapped in to the FPR manifold reference. I would definitely use the filter as it will prevent any oils in the manifold (PCV) from reaching your gauge; I also think Podi's warranty is dependent on using that but I could be wrong on that.

For the wires, I grounded to the dash frame under the drivers side fuse panel and got power from the feed to the vent lighting so the gauge would dim with everything else.

I installed mine without, but it would not be hard to cut the hose and insert it. I'm thinking in the ecu box

On my awe gauge it says the filter needed to be mounted vertical with the gauge side of the filter pointing up. Read the pdf on awes website for the gauge and they mention it there. I think they also recommend it be within a certain distance from the sender, but that could only apply to the electrical gouges.

Actually I just read the pdf, they only mention orientation of the sender, not the filter.
