How to lock trunk from inside of car audi A7/s7/rs7? To prevent theft. Or make lock?

On my 2013 Audi s7, I want to be able to lock my trunk from being accessible inside the car. So that a Valet, or thief that were to get inside the cabin of my car can't get into the trunk without a LOT of effort.

Which means, because of the design of our car, I want to be able to lock the back seats from being able to fold down from within the trunk. I haven't figured out a way to do it yet, but was thinking maybe there is something I can drill into and put a pin, or lock on the mechanism so that I can fully secure the trunk not only from the outside but inside as well.

From my understanding putting the car in valet mode isn't enough to lock the back seats and trunk, it's only a trunk lock.

The goal is, I carry a lot of expensive equipment around where I live, and I have 15,000$ of amps alone in my trunk, I want a way to secure them, and other expensive equipment I lug for my work to not be accessible for a thief that breaks my window to get into my car, or a valet with sticky fingers etc.

Do you guys have any ideas?

I'm not gonna be of any help, but I got an A6, and we can lock out seats with the metal part of the key fob. I didn't think it was any different in the A7.

like said above there should be a keyhole to lock the mechanism used to unlatch the rear seats.

This is one reason I've considered not getting an A7/S7/RS7, the rear seats do not lock/items in the trunk cannot be locked completely away from prying hands. However Audi does this with many models that don't have a sealed trunk, ie sportback or avant. A thief could smash one of the rear glass portions and get through the luggage cover to get at items in the trunk so I suspect Audi just doesn't bother adding the locks to the folding rear seat handles.

With that said, it looks possible to remove the factory folding rear seat handle and fit one with the cutout for the locking cylinder. The locking cylinder is the same one used for the glovebox so you could order two of those matched to your VIN or if you specifically didn't want someone like a valet to get the seats folded to use a lock cylinder not tied to your VIN and only hold that key yourself. At the least this means you can keep someone from folding the seats, though if someone really wants in they can smash the glass or pry up the luggage cover from inside the car.

If you wanted to lock stuff in the trunk, the S6 is a lot more practical than a hatchback. I have had a couple of hatchbacks in my past, can't hide and lock stuff up easily in a hatchback, which is another reason for the S6.

Well one can sell the S7 and buy a S6, with a real lockable trunk if it is important enough.

Valet mode does not secure the trunk on the A7 series - you can just drop the rear seats and get full access, which is the OPs problem.....

Im not sure there is a solution tbh, other than perhaps a secure lockable box within the trunk area.

Can you get a parts list, and show me a picture of where you are talking about installing? I'm sure others would want this mod if you can get something together.

I can put together a kit and I've confirmed that the lock cylinders can be purchased with a VIN (or without for dissimilar keys). The lock cylinders take around 1-2 weeks to be matched to the VIN if needed. The kit would have a new handle trim, release mechanism and lock cylinder for each side.

Audi calls for the rear backrests to come out, but after looking at cars I don't see a reason why it's needed. With the seat folded down access to the release mechanism once popping the top trim off and prying some of the padding/backing free the mechanism should be accessible to change.

Retail on a kit like this appears to be around $380 or so. If you'd like to be the first to test and fit please shoot me a PM or email to discuss: [email protected]

I ordered the parts from Alex at euro price. I will be the Guinea pig. He is going to match the locks to my factory keys. I'll keep you guys updated on the process. Should take about 2 weeks he said.

Sorry to revive this thread from the dead but I'm currently in the market for an S6/ or S7 and the security issue is of significant consideration to me. Did people get this kit, and how is it working out?
