    Ambiant air temp and maf.

So I recently found that my ambiant air temp sensor is missing and there are just two wires showing where it used to be. How will this affect my maf readings? I know the maf uses it to adjust for outside temp and the HVAC is all messed up too thinking its below freezing outside and blowing hot air when its 70. Is this something I should take care off soon? Or can it wait?

are you talking about the one mounted behind the bumper? the HVAC system uses another one mounted under the cowl as a backup..... Its not used at all by the engine management AFAIK....

If you are talking about the intake air temp sensor mounted on the underside of the intake manifold, then you need to fix it. But you would have codes and a CEL so i doubt this is the one you mean.

I think our mafs do the temp comp internally themselves.
Have heard that some crazy ass smart people (person) can add the external compensation stuff when running aftermarket mafs.

The sensor you are talking about is the ambient temp sensor (temp you see on the dash) and some say can mess with the hvac system, but Ive never seen it cause any probs.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Ok thats good. It definitely does mess with the HVAC but oddly it changes with humidity. Like on a 80 degree humid day it read like 40 degrees and the ac blew hot air. That drive sucked.

Interesting. Ive heard that the ambient temp sensor can throw it off, but not seen it myself. I dont know if, or what kind of voodoo it does if it sees an error.

The one that will definitely screw with the hvac is the g89 intake duct sensor.

Vagcom is easiest to scan and look at temps in the morn, should all be the same.
Can do it manually also to see what they read http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int6.shtml
