Not sure if its only on cold starts or not, but I heard it when the engine was cold. A moderate consistent buzzing noise from the passenger side along the side skirt. Thinking it may be a fuel filter or fuel pump? sounds like its coming from a black cylindrical housing. Not sure though.

Pretty sure sending units are located in the tank?

I've had fuel pumps buzz before just before they stopped working. But the area your talking about is exactly where the fuel filter is, cheap enough I would replace it first. Could be clogged, if so it's adding unnecessary stress on your pump.
