As the title states, doing my very first. What should I know. Driving experience is limited. Most I've done is played around on some back roads. What's your experience with autoX?

I have autox'd about 5 times this year. Bring water and I brought a torque wrench. clean your car of shit. Make sure you go through the tech sheet the club should have. having the correct tire pressure is a big thing. Too much and you understeer to fuck (your gonna understeer anyways cause b5 tho) . Fill them up before you goto the track then. Then after every run its best to bleed the excess air out of the tires. Also say goodbye to your tires cause they probably won't last long. Have fun. I can't wait to go nextyear.

I'm hoping the 034 RSB helps with the oversteer and hopefully my tires don't go too soon

You'll be fine. Walk the course as many times as possible. These cars actually are pretty capable for autox. Go 50% on your first run and LEFT FOOT BRAKE, makes a huge difference.

So first even complete. Didn't left foot brake at all. Was more worried about getting good lines and finding when to brake. Lhckinly. The whole corse could be done in second so wasn't worried about shifting. Best time was a 63.333 second, in the wet, very wet. Wipers were on full blast. Slowest time was my first run, obviously, a 73.5 second. Once I get the video I'll post it if I can figure out how.

    This is my checklist.

    Helmet
Blanket (To lay tools/spare/ect on and to cover up while I am running)
Trash bags (To empty absolutely everything out of the car right before tech, Keeps things organized and I go back through after I get home to ensure what I need and dont need in the car)
    Tire pressure gauge
    Typical tools

Before I leave I do a pre check.

    1. Grab the wheels and push/pull on them very hard till the car shakes around. Any clunking means I wont be able to run and need to replace the bearings.
    2. I grab the battery and shake it. If it moves at all, come up with a mounting system so it doesnt.
    3. Make sure the positive battery terminal cant touch metal. z
    4. Push on clutch pedal for appropriate pressure
    5. Push on brake medal for appropriate pressure.
    6. Air tires up to proper deg. If I dont have a rear sway bar I add 5lbs to the rear tire to enduce neutral rotation.

Sounds like you had a good time. Driving in the rain is difficult, your ABS is your friend. Being as smooth as can be is really the best here. Dont bother with left foot braking, Unless your running a huge turbo its not going to help with your times at all and will be very difficult to learn.

You should however be threshold braking quite a bit. This helps with rotation of your heavy body mass and keeps you smooth. Brake a little bit late and into the turn in. With the car being front heavy you want to rotate that mass to the front while your doing tight turns so the rear end can follow the front better and you get more tire contact patch for that initial and mid corner turn. As you get closer to the apex and have shed the appropriate amount of speed off you let off the brake completely and apply throttle. In a rear or fwd car you apply throttle as steering correction, but in an awd car you apply throttle as early as you can make the proper rotation as the car will both push and pull you around the rest of the corner..

Remember smooth is fast, but use the AWD advantage mid corner as often as you can.
