Willing to talk about trading my P3 installed vent for your stock vent + cash as well

Sorry I can't help, but I feel for you man. The same thing happened to me and it took me 3 hours to get it back together properly.

Sine you're missing one of the metal arms, it should be easier. Hooking the arms on the slats in the correct orientation so that the slats would move up/down properly was what took so long.

You should be able to just lay the plastic slats into the vent one by one to at least get it to look good in the car. It won't function properly (meaning you won't be able to adjust it anymore) but its a quick fix until you find a replacement. They just sit on the vent and don't really clip in. I think maybe one piece had a little tab on it. The surrounding trim piece is what holds them in place though. Stupid design if you ask me.

There should be plenty of totaled b8.5 a4/s4's in the SoCal area you can grab one off, not to state the obvious. Whats the deal with the P3 "exploding"? more info on this? might want to explain before offering to trade it to someone for their vent.

His P3 didn't explode, his factory vent did. All the instructions tell you to pull the vent surround trim piece off. Like its just so easy. Problem is, nobody tells you to close the vent first, or to be extremely careful when pulling the trim. So when you pop that trim off, the vent slats "explode" and come flying out.

the exploded one is the original I pulled out to install my p3 vent. The p3 vent is fine and still in the car - the idea being I needed an original, stock vent to replace my p3 vent so I could return the car back to stock. Regardless, trade is off the table I bought a replacement. It'll be up for sale once I get it out.

Just out of curiosity, where were you able to secure another complete vent from? Just wondering in case it ever happens to me again lol. I won't be trying to put it back together.

I had a buddy buy one from car-part to do a P3 Retrofit and got one out of a 2014 for about $40 bucks. I'm glad you found what you wanted, and at no risk of there being any cosmetic damage to the part.

Well just got a follow up, the vent on that site doesn't work for my vin (I'm guessing 2015/2016 have an updated vent somehow?).

The vent that does work is $470 and backordered from Germany with a 3-4 week lead time :(

I saw an extra vent somewhere for pretty cheap recently wish I could remember where.

I honestly thought about picking it up as a replacement as I also have the P3.

I think somebody must be grabbing them all up. (P3? )

I'm nearly positive I saw one on ebay a few days ago for ~$40.

If you look now you can find >10 passenger vents for $30-50 but no drivers vents.

Well a little clarity, it seems Audi will only sell the vent along with the MMI trim piece. At least they don't think the vent alone is worth nearly $500

Have a couple interested parties for the trade, so hopefully should be able to make this happen
