    Magnaflow 16689 on b7 S4 review

    Hi all.

I know this has been brought up. But thought a nice write up will help people make the choice that I did.

I recently acquired a 2005.5 Moro blue s4, took me a few days to order the exhaust. I was considering the Europa parts exhaust, being advertised here. I ultimately decided on the magnaflow 16689 RS4 exhaust through performance peddled. This was my 3rd exhaust through them. I had the magnaflow option on my old b6 s4, great price, perfect fitment but a bit too quiet for my liking. But at 7xx shipped it was fine. The Europa exhaust is awesome and probably also a great bang for the buck option since it's made by the same manufacturer as stasis.

Return to my b7. I decided on this despite seeing some people saying it fits, others saying no etc. so here is my review.

Fitment: 8/10. Yes a few things needed to be adjusted, nothing crazy.

    1. Stretch oem olive clamps on the side going to the rs4 catback. Use a longer bolt, get from any hardware store. Bolted up fine, sealed fine. No leaks. The rs4 unit does neck down slightly at the front so it's really not too far off.

    2. Move the rear hangers all the way over onto the exhaust hanger hook. Again no big deal. Without doing this tips were too close to the valence for my liking. (I do have the dtm rear bumper)

    3. I drilled two new holes in the cross bar that bolts to both exhaust pipes near the mid section. Moved the two holes a bit more inward to pull the exhaust a bit more centered. This was not 100% necessary but did help.

And that's it! I may do a bit more tweaking on my driver side it's very slightly crooked, a simple unbolt and twist can fix this when I get to it.

Sound: 10/10, for me. I do not like rasp, this is a very deep nice tone. Amazing sound. No video on YouTube is going to do it justice, trust me. The exhaust comes across very quiet... too quiet in videos. For me, it's perfect. Piggy pipes or single hi flow cats should really make it scream, but from 1-4K it is plenty loud... especially windows down. I'll do piggys in the future. Honestly I couldn't believe how loud it was 1-4K at first, it does quiet down as you rev it out... louder then stock and very clean sound. Again, imo it's perfect. This is non resonated so it is much louder then the b6 version with two massive resonators.

Looks: 9/10 it really should be a 10 when I final tweak some things. This is a very well built system, nice welds etc. tips line up great w rear bumper. Not sure how to post pics here so if I figure it out I'll post some.

Quality: 10/10 imo best bang for your buck. I paid 800$ shipped for this. I don't see being able to find a better sounding, better quality catback, NEW, at this price point.

All in all. No regrets. Extremely happy with this purchase and would do it again. Performance peddler is awesome. Great price and took 2 days to get to me in VT.

Anyways hope this can help someone looking for the information.

Never responded to this forever ago but I do have a few pics I figured I would post up. Still love this exhaust setup and am doing piggies in a few days to add a bit more before the jhm tune. I do have to go back and redo one of the stock clamps as it seems to have stretched a bit more on the 2.5" part and created a small leak, otherwise no complaints.
