    Which Piston Rings?

    Going to the dealer would cost $150 more for piston rings. Would anyone know if ABA piston rings would fit the 2.0t FSI BWT engine? The bore and stroke are exactly the same. I'm looking at Hastings 2C4639 piston rings which cost $100, and the ring specs are as follows: top comp ring: 1.2mm, second comp ring: 1.5mm, oil ring 2.0mm.

    Why not just get 4 of these?

    Edit:

    That's the thing. I can't find the Mahle rings anywhere. It's like they stopped making them, and the only place to get some is OE dealer rings.

    Ebay search for the part number yields alternatives labeled for other models with the same part number. Might have some luck there:

    Just did some internet digging and it looks like someone with a b6 passat 2.0t fsi used the Mahle 41926CP piston ring set. Anyone looking to purchase some rings they are 71.99 from rockauto for a complete 4 cylinder set: LINK These rings are plasma moly faced so I think i will finish with 320 grit 3 1/4" flex hone. If the cylinder is out of round then I'll have to take it to the machine shop

    Have you contacted Mahle?

It's weird that despite having the same engine the application tables are different. I called Europaparts a while back and they said they ordered a bunch of rings but it is back ordered to an indefinite amount of time.

    Bump....Having the exact same issue. OP, what did you ultimately do?

    The Mahle rings seems like the best (and least expensive option), but you can no longer source them...Sold out everywhere.

    The next best thing I can find is for 4 x OEM from FCP;

    I have a BPG engine FYI.

    The N/A rings also fit our stock pistons, just make sure they're gapped appropriately.. This is Mahle/Clevite Part #41926CP. I no longer use stock pistons and use a different ring kit.
