Advice on adding coats of Red Caliper Paint once already done

I had my calipers painted red a month or so ago, and I guess my buddy who did it with my brakes didn't do a great job. I washed my car and the little bit of wheel cleaner spray i used and faded some of the paint so the red now looks like a faded orange in places. I guess the clear coat I gave him was never used. Anyway, I would like to add another coat or so of red and a few coats of clear to fix them. How do you recommend I do this since they already are painted? I'm afraid if I use any spray brake cleaner it will just take off the existing paint. Is there a way to clean with a de greaser, scuff up a bit, and paint over what I have, or is it best to use the brake cleaner and basically start over as the paint will probably come off. Plan is to do it with the calipers still on too, I do not know how to take them off and am not going to start trying to do it now.

I was going to do it myself, but i needed new brakes installed. My buddy is a mechanic, said he has painted calipers several times, and he would do it when he does the brake job. I got him the primer, cleaner, clear coat, and red caliper paint. I'm pretty sure he just did a coat or 2 of the red over the stock caliper and called it a day. No primer or clear coat. Some of the red was thin and it was black under. I would like to do a few more coats of red myself and add a couple clear, so was just wondering if I could just sand them and paint or I need to strip all the red off first. I am not taking the calipers off, going to just mask everything and do it.

if your having paint adhesion problems it means that it was not prepped correctly if you add paint to it, it will flake off again because you have not corrected the problem. It is going to suck to sand it off but it is going to look like steaming poo if you don't make sure you use high temperature paint

It was high temp paint. He used the Duplicolor Caliper paint. The issue is not adhesion, it is fading. The wheel cleaner faded the red into an orange-ish color in spots. It is still fully covered in red, just looks faded where the spray hit it which should not happen. That is why I pretty much wanted to scuff it up, add another couple coats of red caliper paint, and then clear coat it to stop the fading that is happening now.
