well, like the title suggests this car has been a PITA since i bought it in June(2016). I'll try to abridge this as best i can. Before I bought the car I went to look at it and it was fresh from a trade in from the looks of things, the salesman didn't even know why it was listed online yet b/c it hasn't been gone through by them. Im like whatever let's take a look. We start it up and it sounds glorious then chimed a low coolant light and the CEL was on,ok so I pop the hood and the T next to the reservoir was broken leaking coolant and there was a slight miss so no test drive of course... I tell the guy get everything fixed and change the 02 sensors since the car had 78K and I would come back to check out the car. Two weeks later the car is ready and runs and drives strong so I bite at a reasonable price of 19,000. Car was bought new at that dealer and serviced there its whole life so the history was excellent. I drive the car 4 miles to my grandmother's house and it won't restart! Called the salesman and he comes out with the tech that worked on the car. The scanner says starter relay fault so they tow it back and have it fixed a few hours later. I picked up the car a few days later (lived 2hrs away) and drove it home. Everything was great for the next two days, in the process of moving to Birmingham, AL at the time. Drove the car for 565 miles to Birmingham and parked it, unloaded the moving truck, go to start the car and same thing no start. I called the dealer and they told me have it towed to the local dealer here in B'ham. They diagnose the car as having a bad starter and quote me $2600. After pleading with my original dealer they tell me that they can't help me with the fix the GM finally calls me back after I left a bad survey review and agreed to send me a $1300 check to split the cost, cool so take the car to a local German/ Euro specialist to have the work performed for less than Audi quoted. Duffy's Garage here in Birmingham began working on the car and during disassemble find a ground wire not hooked up and the car starts fine. They are able to start the car several times from jumping the starter but not from the key or push start inside. Duffy's sends the car to another local specialist for a second opinion, the other shop diagnose the the starter is bad and have it towed back to Duffy's (2 weeks). Brad, the owner says he believes there could be damage done to the wiring harness since the engine was dropped in order to change the 02 sensors by the previous dealer. I say go ahead and blow it apart and change the starter and if need be change the subharness which is available from audi for like $235. A few more weeks past and I don't hear any news, I call for an update and get told i'll get a call back when Brad is back. Finally spoke to Brad about the car and he suggest having audi fix it incase its not the starter they are responsible for it if it happens to be something else. I'm fine with that at this point but I ask how much I owe them for what they have in the car im figuring a couple hundred...they call me back and say its gonna be $930. Well at this point im gonna just have the car towed here and fix the car in my garage since now I basically lost $1000 for them to keep my car for 3 months and still didnt fix anything. Any info or ideas would be great..I have the bentley repair manual and have studied it for weeks about a possible starter replacement and found a used harness for $89 if need be.
