    So I changed my tensioner, chains and guides, set all the timing marks but my car is misfiring all cylinders and its running like the timing is retarded. Is there a possibility that I set the timing 180 degrees off? Are these motors ones that you have to turn multiple times to set TDC and not just line up the marks on one turn? Im stuck on this and I want to get the car running again, taking it to the dealer is my last resort.

    The job greatly depends on if the bottom timing gear was kept properly mated to the crankshaft. It is keyed to the crank the same way the crank pulley was keyed to the timing gear. The key ways are fairly shallow and it can be assembled without being properly keyed. So visually it will look timed correctly but the timing won't correlate to crank position. My timing cover (in relation to the crank pulley) had 2 marks on it. One around 12 o clock that matched all the timing marks up but a little off TDC and another around 230 (inline with the lower cover dowel pin) that was at TDC.
    I assume when you took off the chain that the timing marks (cam gears and crank gear) were aligned?

    As van said, these can be tricky to time as the crankshaft can be out of position from where you may think it is for all the reasons he stated. The best thing is get the motor to top dead center (without the chain on so you also don't rotate camshafts when you hand crank the crankshaft). There is a timing mark on the crank pulley that indicates TDC, then line up all the corresponding marks for the camshafts from there.

    Also, make sure the pulley is keyed correctly onto the crank gear. It's only supposed to mate one way but it never hurts to double check.

    Yes I made sure the keys lined up before bolting everything down.
    When I first removed the covers and turned the crank to set TDC the cams where off one tooth from the chain. I took everything off and did a leak down and it was holding at green. After that I adjusted the cams to where they were supposed to be and bolted everything up started the car and still misfired. Bought new coils, plugs, crank sensor, cam sensor on valve cover and the one on the front cover.
