    Wheels spec and tires

Hello , I`m new to this forum I read a lot of threads but did not got answer to my question. My car is audi s4 2014 year.
I`m thinking to buy new wheels . Suggesting about 20". As I read the safest way is to go 20x9 but 9 not looks as good as 10 .
But people rolling on 10 how is it performance wise ? 10 is not too wide for performance? I don`t want to loose acceleration speed because of very wide wheels.
And if to go with 20x10 et42 and tires 255x30 and H&R sport springs will it rub or overall it is better to go with 20x9 ?
I don`t want big stretches because it is performance car and won`t go slow on it in corners and everywhere.
    So please any suggestions.
    Really need some information.
    Thank you.

20" wheels are for aesthetic purposes only. Unless you find uber-light 20" wheels ($$$$), you are adding extra unsprung weight and additional rotating mass, which will hurt performance.

a rotary forged/flow forged (whatever you want to call it) 20" wheel is going to be about the same weight, or lighter, than a 19" cast wheel for only a little more money
i'm not completely disagreeing with you, but its something to consider!

    Fair enough, sir

There are still performance-related issues with going too large, though I don't know specifics for the S4.

Not to split hairs....well, ok, to split hairs....equal weight at a larger diameter could mean that the weight is distributed at a farther distance from the rotational axis (depending on the rim and spoke geometry), meaning larger rotating inertia which results in more resistance to rotate, i.e. slower acceleration rate for a given torque input.

But who cares, they look cool

A 255 tire will look stretched on a 10" wide wheel.

I think that is splitting hairs hahah (from a non engineer). I understand your point, and the fat kid's. I was just stating that just because they are bigger they aren't necessarily boat anchors

JRan76 - is the resident wheel/tire expert on here!

And there is already a long discussion thread on the subject of what fits:
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ussion/page149

But here's the general consensus for width/ET (Offset):
    8.5" ET33-35
    9" ET37-40
    9.5' ET40-42
10" ET37-42 (Lots of variance here due to the tight fit, and a lot depends on the tire. Something like the PSS, I'd go towards the higher end).

Also note a 255 tire is recommended for an @ 8.5" wheel - so 265 for the wider wheels (9.5/10)

I'm considering on stance sc-8 20x10 et42 . And want to know how it will efdect my performance and will it rub or not on 255x30 and how car will handle it ? I saw a guy with vwry beautiful s4 and having stance sc-8 with et 35 he did lots of work to avoid rubing . So i think maybe with et42 it will not rub.

ET42 is probably the safest option for 10" wheels. A 255/30/20 should be rub free. Tire sizes vary greatly, and there's a small chance of very minor rubbing with a really wide tire (not likely, but a 10" wheel is a tight fit).

You mentioned that you did not want a lot of stretch on the tire. You should spend some time looking at 10" wheels/255 tires in the gallery thread above to make sure you are ok with the stretch. I'd personally consider it quite a bit, but not impossible and everyone's opinion is different on this. There are a lot of people that are fine with it, and a lot that think it's too much.

265 30 is a pretty tall. tire rack says 26.3 inches. stock size is 25.7 or so
