Is there a correct position for the diverter valves ?

Hi there gang, just finished the 2.0t coil conversion and the tunable Forge diverter valves. I do have a question about the position of the dvs. I always thought this 2.7t is a symmetrical engine, and yet, the stock diverter valves are one in vertical position, the other horizontal. I did install the Forge valves the same way, but I keep wondering, the air flow should go the same way on both sides of the engine, why are the valves positioned the way they are ? Isn't the pressure supposed to hit the bottom of the piston where the spring is at ? Looking at pictures online didn't help much, saw all kinds of setups, with both valves vertical, both horizontal. From some videos I saw, there's a hissing sound associated with the new valves, my car has none, I did install the 23psi spring since I have the APR tune. Bottom line; is there a correct position for the dvs? And what would happen if they are in the wrong position ? My car is a 00 2.7 6 sp

I don't think you want a 23 psi spring in there

That's what ECS tuning recommended. Green spring for stock, yellow (up to 23) for mild tune, blue and red for highly tuned cars

Hmm. Weird. I would go with what they say but I thought you want to have the lightest spring possible. Even though that makes little sense when asking why they have different spring choices. Who knows. Maybe that's what my issue was this whole time lol

If you have several springs, did you try replacing and see what happens ? Actually what is your issue ?

OK, so I got my answer from the local Audi dealership. Previous owner installed one of them valves the wrong way. The piston inside should be activated by the flow from the horizontal hose, while the vertical hose is for exhaust.

could you post the picture, as a service to community, so we finally know how correctly installed DV's should look like?
