    Unhappy AWE Exhaust Sag

So the right side of my AWE exhaust hangs lower than the left. I've tightened the hell out of the bolts, but no go. If I actually loosen the left bolts (a lot) I can get it all even, but that gives the left a lot of play.. which is no bueno.

I read that the rubber hanger eventually wares, which would cause this one sided sag. Anyway to fix this shy of contacting AWE, telling them the story, having them ship me the part and then replacing it eventually haha?

Seems to be an on going issue. Overall the AWE Exhausts are pretty solid, I only had one that started to rust out a few years ago. It hung super perfect, no sagging. Weird......

Mine seems to sag a bit more on the left than the right side. Only by a finger width so nothing crazy, but I've tried adjusting it and when I get it perfect, after taking it for a drive left side sags a bit by again a finger width or so. But the right side is perfect and doesn't move at all! Weird!

I think I'm just being too picky, but after seeing some of the perfect tip alignments on other sq5's on the forum, I know it's possible for them to be flush.

IMO no such thing as being too picky. Mine is exactly like yours; about a finger width. I know its that darn hanger because well theres nothing else really it could be..

The AWE exhaust is great and has a lot of joints to adjust it. When I had it on my 2.0 I purchased a few more .5" set screw collar stays so that I had one on each side of the rubber exhaust hangers (both at the back and the two by the center resonator. That eliminated any side to side shift that could occur.

IS it the tips or the mufflers? the right muffler are taller than the left by design, FYI

i need an assload of adjustment to get mine to fit right hahaha. so many different places to adjust to, who knows where the pipe needs to be twisted a little or something.

that was actually one of my main concerns when buying it, since I don't have a lift and don't let shops work on my cars. i just got used to it being all sorts of confused. when I do my 034 rear sway install gonna take one last crack at getting it straight and tight enough so it doesn't move around.

You'll be surprised how much adjustment you can get by breaking the connection points loose and twisting the exhaust in one direction or another. Keep giving it hell and you'll get it straight... Trust me. You might need some jack stands or a buddy to help hold things in place while you tighten clamps back down.

This guy has it correct. It not so much about adjusting the tips. And the buddy mod is very important. Tad bit of sag on the far right, but I have corrected.

no lift makes it way more difficult. I can get it straight but not even height wise side to side. that will come from one of the pipes with an angle, twisting it will add the up/down adjustment.

but my issue is that after 2000 miles its all f'd again. maybe i'll throw some loctite on the clamps.

I've adjusted mine twice already and I just noticed some sag again the other day. I'll have to get under there again soon because it's driving me nuts! Wish I could get them looking as good as yours, Mops!

Yeah I'm heavily considering having a buddy tack weld it. Just impossible to get them to stay in place, when you think about all the points it can shift around I feel dumb even thinking it wouldn't move lmao
