Thoughts on an RS7 vs. a Panamera Turbo S

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi there guys,

I am looking to get back into a 4 door car. The last one I had was a 2013 Audi S6, with exhaust and tune. I was pretty much set on a 2014 RS7, but a 2012 Panamera Turbo S has been catching my eye lately.

I am definitely a speed junky and love the performance of a high horsepower straight line vehicle....as I will definitely modify either car. So, I think that these two cars are the only contenders, where a few weeks ago, there weren't any other options in my eyes.

Anyone have serious seat time in both, or owned both? Pro's and con's to both. I do plan to modify either one, but I still the the Audi will be much faster. Price is also a major player, as I want to be sub $85k, so that will put me into a 2014 RS7 or a 2012 Panamera Turbo S. I am willing to wait for the right car, just looking for opinions on both, as I haven't driven either, yet.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks,

    Kevin

If all you're worried about is highway speed then IMO you should just pick the one you subjectively enjoy more and you can't go wrong with either. If you're looking for the better track performer then I would say a Panamera with PDCC and PCCB will be the one to go with. I've never driven an RS7 on the track, but did a few laps in a Panamera Turbo S last time I was at the Porsche school and it was surprisingly impressive for a boat.

RS7 all the way, however if you don't mind the interior of a MK2 Jetta you can go with the Panamera

Depends on what's important to you.

RS7 is quicker and faster in a straight line, while the Panamera is quicker on a road course and around corners.

As you've pointed out, you'd have to get an older Panamera to even approach RS7 pricing.

If you're buying CPO, the warranty will last longer (end on a later date) than the that on the older Panamera.

Looks are subjective, but important to many. Which do you prefer to look at, both inside and out? It would be tough to love a car that you didn't think was nice to look at...

I own tuned S7 and my friend owns 2012 Panamera GTS, the Panamera handles much much better and you can have fun with it on the track, with S7 you cant have fun, it just has so much body roll and the suspension is very bad for sporty driving. Go for the Panamera if you like spirited driving and some fun on the track in the weekends!

No offense, but the S7 (even tuned) is no RS7, nor is the Panamera GTS a Panamera Turbo S...so your comparison isn't really valid...

I thought that when I drove a 2013 S6, but the 2016 is much better, especially with 15mm spacers all round.

How is the 16' S6 better than the 13'?

I was under the impression the suspension is the same in the 16 as it is in the 13. The MMI tech is better, but the suspension?

Suspension is tuned a little better, transmission is tuned a little better, sports exhaust, etc..

Good write up on the tranny updates here:

    http://fourtitude.com/features/Revie...-sedan-europe/

The car’s 7-speed S tronic (DSG) transmission gets even more significant revisions, with the replacement of its hydraulic pump for a new electric equivalent. Now, instead of gears immersed in transmission fluid, they are instead constantly sprayed on demand by the electric pump, which all makes for more efficient performance and less parasitic drag.Driven: 2016 Audi S6 sedan (Europe)

Tuned S7 is almost same as stock RS7 from 0-100 and the GTS handles same as the turbo, there are only engine differences, i'm telling you if you want a big and fun sedan go for Panamera, it will kill RS7 on the track.

An RS7 with Eurocode sways and endlinks, plus Alu Kreuz chassis brace takes on a different personality handling wise IMO. So don't discount the ability to improve the RS7 handling w/o spending a fortune. I do agree that you should get the car that you really want/like, so there will be no regrets.
