Thoughts about your Q5 DRL look

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Do you guys like the look of the DRL on the SQ/Q5? I really don't like the DRL at all. IMO if only either the bottom(2nd pic) or bottom(3rd pic) light comes on, it'd look better. Pictures below.

This would be my ideal DRL for the SQ/Q5

I agree 100%. Much more aggressive. Much like the B8 A/S5 cars.

Why are the DRL showing the car in the dark? Hehe just teasing.

The third pic reminds me of pre-facelift with the individual LED's.

    That light looked more aggressive.

I do like your 4th pic the best.
Maybe some black electrical tape at night?

That's a removable mod of you don't like it! Haha.

In all seriousness. I agree, it could be more aggressive.

I'll be curious to see the new Q5 headlamps.
Esp the LED matrix ones they'll offer on the high end. I didn't think we'd get that tech in the q5 range so soon honestly.

Agree - loved how the DRLs looked on my 14 S4 (B8.5); really like the Jaguar J-Blades on my F-Pace.

I was thinking the same thing. I purchased some carbon fiber vinyl from Amazon for $6. I'm going to give my SQ5 an eyelid. The eyelid will block the top DRL strip. The goal is to achieve the look in the 4th picture.

Take some pics of that when done. Day and night!

I want to see how turns out.

I'll work on it, and take some pictures this coming weekend. I'm imagining, it's going to turn out great, since my car's color is Monsoon Gray.

Not as good as I expected. I am not a professional, and I didn't have a lot of time to play around with the eyelid style. Don't have any night pictures, but took a garage picture... All pictures were taken with a phone, so detail is pretty bad. I'll take some nicer pictures with a higher quality camera later so I can capture some good night pictures.

While that might look OK at night, the obviousness of the vinyl looks very amateur, at best.

^I agree 100%. If I am going to go this route, I'll definitely get it done professionally. I carbon fiber vinyl I used was also very cheap. I'm going to take a super duper high quality picture of the front end, and photoshop some eyelid styles, as I have a few more ideas. I'll post up the photoshoped pictures tomorrow.

Looks like this is a no go. Debating if I should wait until I have a good few hours to remove the headlights and do a hardcore slow vinyl wrap. The problem is this is not a permanent solution, which means during winter, the vinyl will probably peel off.
