Is it a pretty 04 ccem that will not work with B7 keys?

    Or

A post 04 ccem that will work with B7 keys. Thanks.

EDIT... it is a Comfort Convenience Module (CCM) (not an CCEM)

I believe the T at end of the part number is for 02 models, the newer 2003+ ends in BB and is compatible with b7 keys

That is not the Central Electric Control Module, CECM, it is the Comfort Convenience Module.

When you look into posts you find information saying the the CECM controls the keyless entry then you see other posts stating the ccm is in charge of the keyless entry.

Yeah, The CECM controls the exterior lighting and the wipers. the CCM controls the remote door locks, door control modules and interior floor well lighting and puddle lights.

    Sweet info.

In that case...can this unit be swapped into my 2004 Avant (was taken out of a sedan) if my remote door locks, door control modules, interior floor well lighting or puddle lights act up?

I don't think so, it operates at a different frequency for the key fob, it was unique to the 2002 model year only from what I have gathered. In theory you can use it, but you might lose some creature comfort i.e. Keyless locking.

The factory calls the CCM the "Central Comfort Electronic" (from German "Zentrale Komfortelektronik")

Yes, that is CECM, late version (early cars have 'E' variant), my 2002 does at least.

Came out of a 04 Avant.

What is the best way to capture the coding I have on my current CECM installed in my car so I can copy this information over to this new CECM if it ever fails?

    Have VagCom.

log into central electronics [09], hit coding, write down the number?

I guess you should step through adaptation too, but there is very little to adapt on mine anyway, maybe F variant has all these things, mine (E) doesn't? :

    http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...onics_(8EC/8ED)

Does your car have coming home lights and stuff? Mine doesn't. Didn't seem to have any of those dimming options either, though maybe the label file for 'E' is just missing things.

Hmmmmm. I see you're Canadian too, what is daytime running light behaviour with this 'F' box you have?
DRL setup on 'E' box is dumb:
    - all park lights on
    - fog lights on
    - instrument cluster lights on
    - doesn't matter if park brake is up, if ignition is on, lights are on, bloody all of them...

If you change coding to scandinavia it uses the low beams instead of fog lights, but is otherwise the same.

    What I actually want
    - car running, park brake off:
fogs or low beams on, all other lights and cluster off.
    - car not running, or park brake on:
    no lights on

You know, like every other car with DRLs.

    sorry about the derail

    To answer your derail....

I modified my headlight switch by cutting off a pin and then connecting said cut pin to the pin beside it....you can find this if you search. This allows the Fogs to come on in switch positions where they would not normally.
I then used vag com to set my lights to ROW (rest of the world)

    I now have the following..

Switch set to off = Nothing, no running lights no marker lights....only lights are the needles in the cluster.
    Auto = Auto
Running light position = all running lights, cluster lights up and due to my mod in the switch pins, I can also pull the switch out for fogs ;)
switch on = lights on...all of em.

I have total control over my lights :)
