I have a 98 a4 with a blown motor. Just recently purchased an a6 with the 4.2. now the delima I'm in is that I was told that it was a 2000. If you look at the sticker by the door manufacturing date is 11/00. Now that title says that it's a 2001. I don't know if it has the immobiliser or not. If so what do i have to do to bypass so I can get the motor to work? If anyone can lend a helping thought would be great

Ok what do I have to do to wiring up to my body harness to the motor. And what's the best way to defeat it also flash the ecu for a manual. Will I need to run with the a6 gauges?

I can do wiring. Not my strong point. Just got my first Audi last December. Use to older muscle cars. " Alot easier lol". The mechanical side and fabrication are my strong point. Thanks for the help BTW.

A user here named bhusted did the same swap into a 99.5 and documented everything, look for his thread on it. The most difficult part is figuring out what wire goes where, after that it's a piece of cake.

I'll look for his thread thanks. Yeah everything is a breeze for me except figuring out what wires go where lol. Can the ecu be flashed for a manual transmission. Is so where and how much lol

Does anyone know if a s6 ecu will work with my harness? Found out that my a6 donner car was manufactured 11/00. But says it's a 2001 on title. However I was looking at the key and it doesn't seem to have a transponder. Does that mean no immobiliser?

I've also noticed that on a couple threads that the flywheel don't match up to the crank sensor. What's that fix?

Pretty sure that there is an immobiliser. Only difference might be that the older is immo2 and newer immo3.

You don't have to get that manual flash right away. Just add the pin for the clutch and it works fine. I've been driving almost 4000km with my V8 swapped B5 like that, and there is nothing that tells me it's an automatic ecu.

And reading those other 40V V8 swap threads really helped me a lot.

Oh ok well then I still got to get past the immobiliser in the ecu. Yeah I've been reading alot of the v8 threads. Been really helpful so far. Haven't started yet, waiting for the new clutch, radiator, and all the seals and stuff to come in. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row if you know what I mean.

you will need to convert your car to DBW, get a V6 30v flywheel if you plan to stay 5 speed, 6 speed you will need s4 flywheel. There will probably be more wiring needed to be done on body harness side since yours is preface lift, the ideal way

is to swap same year to same year- ie 01 a4 with 01 v8, makes things a lot easier, you will need 1.8t power steering pump.

Message me if you have any questions. Immob and manual coding will need to be done on ECU, i have been running Daz tune and its amazing, unfortunately with his passing it would be hard to get.

The V6 30V flywheel also works with an 01E 6-speed, and is actually preferable to the insanely heavy and tall 2.7T flywheel, which requires the 2.7T / 01E 11.5mm spacer, between the engine and transmission.

With limited room at the front of the V8 in a B5, you need every mm you can salvage.

I understand the same years would be ideal. However there isn't much to choose from up here. Details about what to do for the wiring would be nice. Plan on taking pedals out of the 01 just need to learn what or where the wires go. Where could I send my ecu to get what's needed done to it? Should I egr and Sai delete? As you can tell new to the forum so would send pics but can't figure out how to yet.

You can use the 4.2 pump. But you have to also use hoses from 4.2 (that is how I did it. It helps a lot if you have the whole donor car.

I do have the whole donner car. Plan to start on it this weekend. Seals and stuff will start to come in next week. I know I have work ahead of me with the wiring. If someone could point me in the right direction. It's a pre facelift b5 and a 01 a6

my motor is 00, harness and ecu are 01 i bought from a yard. wiring info is hard to find, best to research all the builds on here as wiring is different for every year/combination. pedals shouldn't matter as long as its from facelift. your essentially adding a plug into plenum box where you dont have one. message me for ECU info, i may have someone who can get a a delete and tune

definitely delete SAI, i made my own blockoff plates, or get them from 034.

i ran 40v PS pump with 1.8t pressure line and 40v reservoir to pump line, i said it wrong in previous post. its plug and play this way.

If your not the best with German wiring i would try to source a facelift car and there isnt nearly the wiring work needed. you will want to go facelift cluster which is a lot of wiring and then deal with re pinning the plenum plugs as well, just my $.02

Lol can't post pics. And the wiring doesn't bother me. But the knowledge of where it goes is lacking. Or having the wiring schematics. That's where I lack. The work I can do the know how I can't. Lmao. Not afraid to admit it.

You mentioned model years not matching but keep in mind that Audi model years go from August of one year to July of the next. So a car with a build date of 08/2000 or 07/2001 are both 2001 model year cars. That being said a car with a 11/2000 build date is a 2001 model year car.

The v8 is pulled. Making more progress. Can anybody tune my ecu? I can't find anybody to do it so this will all be pointless. I would like the egr delete, Sai delete, rear o2 sensors turn off, and need the immobiliser defeated, and flash it for a manual transmission. It's a 2001 7.1.1 ecu.

So just a quick question. I noticed in one of the builds that there is a spacer used between the flywheel and crank. But cant for the life of me find it again. Anyone know what spacer to use. There was one on the v6 on the clutch side of the flywheel. Do I just put that one on the opposite side?

VCDS to code the tach for a v8. Wiring is like 3 wires only apparently.

To eliminate rev hang, you gotta wire in something else

Thank you on the tach. And for the wiring yeah I get only three wires but I'm working with a 01 harness and 98 body. The plugs are different. The pins for the body are round and the pins for the engine harness are flat. don't know if I should just cut wires and change the whole end or what. And of course the color of the wires do not match.
