    Spark Plugs - Carbon Build-Up

I was replacing the spark plugs in my 2014 A4 Quattro 2.0 today and noticed that all the plugs were black with carbon. Not the normal light brown. Is this normal? The car has 29K on it and I haven't had any issues or fault codes pop up.

    Thanks.

My 2010 A4 has 27k miles on it and plugs are brownish. So I don't think black is normal and your car only has 29k on it, shouldn't be that dark. It's odd.

Something isn't getting hot enough to burn that stuff off, usually that's a sign of running too cold of a plug... But you're stock so it should be stock 6 plug temperature...

Agree with Hyperunion, they should at least be a grayish color. When I originally went K04 I stuck with the stock plugs being they were replaced in Jan of this year. K04 was installed in June and I replaced the OEM plugs with the APR recommended NGK BKR8EIX in August. The oem plugs still looked like a perfect fire/combustion.

Thanks for the responses. Here is a photo of the plugs. The photo isn't great, but the dark area is definitely black vs. brown. Thoughts?
