help me choose between these EFR turbos:

I know, I know... another "help me choose a turbo thread" but ive been researching for days and I still cant choose! I was recently building a 800hp compound turbo cummins setup for a sweet rat rod truck but my yuppie town took me to court over it sitting in the driveway for 2 yrs and made me get rid of it in a week or pay a massive fine. So I just sold thousands of dollars of parts on ebay and have this money burning a hole in my paypal account. Plan was to play with the truck and leave the audi how it is but....<br><br>

So that's where im at, Im pretty sure I want the 71/63 in twin scroll but im also considering the 67/58 and the 70/64 also in twin scroll. Pros and cons: Only reason im even considering the 70/64 is the ported compressor housing. Im hearing this size range of turbos are often going into surge around 4k on our motors at 25+ psi. I broke a valve in my cylinder head a few yrs back and put a clutch in then when I was building the truck. Problem is, at the time the plan was to play with the truck and leave the car as a daily so I only used a southbend stage 2 endurance. Think its good to 320tq, not sure if that's engine or wheel but sounds low if its engine. This will still be a street car so I don't wanna go too crazy but everytime I tell myself to get the 67/58 I keep thinking the twin scroll 71 will spool up around the same time and have a higher ceiling on hp/tq. So it seems like a no brainer but maybe some of you guys can chime in and help me decide. Much appreciated! ***before you ask, I know I will need rods. Again I should have put them in when I had the head off but I didn't. Plan will be to run any of these at 15-17psi to keep things safe while I build a 2.0l on the side and swap out later along with a more capable clutch. Thanks again for helpin out!

A place between here and there

Off topic, but NJ is weird. Can't park a car on your own property that you not only own, but pay taxes for. And if you want to move out of NJ and own a house, they make you pay a fee. Meaning they basically hold you hostage as a resident unless you pay a fee to leave. Sounds like a form of extortion to me, but I'm just some guy.
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch

^^^ It is some bullshit, mostly caused by my stick in the ass neightbors that belong on some golf resort or something. They have more money in landscaping than I paid for the house (seriously)
Funny story, the prosecutor when I went to court told me it was a "junk" vehicle and that's why they had grounds to make me remove it from the property. I asked him what "junk" was defined as, he asked me if it ran, and why it was "on blocks" lol. I had a broken concrete cinderblock shaped like a triangle used as a wheelchock, because the engine and trans were removed. So he was like well, it doesn't run, and hasn't run in years, its junk! Then I asked if a gorgeous '66 corvette that was waiting for a new motor would also be considered a "junk" vehicle... He got all flustered and yelled at me, playing the tough bureaucrat game. This all happened because of my neighbors really, they have some kind of pull with the code enforcer of the town. I got 3 different tickets in the past years (not traffic tickets):

Code enforcement: "Waste baskets must be picked up from curbside in less than 12hrs."

Code enforcement: "Wastebaskets must not be placed at curb sooner than 24hrs before pickup."

And I also had the fire department come with trucks and sirens on for having a small fire in a brick pit in my backyard drinkin a frew brews with my friends. They gave me a $200 fine because the pit was within 15' of a living tree, and they found some glass from a broken bottle in the ashes.

/rant. my apologies, I still get fired up over this shit. I will be renting this place pretty soon and finally carring out my dream of owning 50+ acres with one of those long windy driveways that goes to the middle of it.

There is a turbo matching application linked at the EFR website. Use that application to select the best turbo size for your situation.

Back on topic.. Yes I plugged all them in except for the 7064. I'm pretty much sold on it or the 7163, would mostly like to get first hand experience if possible on the surge without the ported housing. I know that map shows the surge line but real world is usu different. I had a stgIII turbine vtrim t3/t4 on my old "other car" and the surge was annoying.

Also with that map your plugging in boost numbers per rpm based on your own input. How am I supposed to know what rpm the turbo will see positive pressure at? Is the twin scroll housing on these really at 10+ psi at 3500? < this is another big point for me, if it's not I will consider the 6758 which also comes in twin scroll now

Yes the TS will see 10PSI at or below 3500 and then take off like a fucking rocket... If you want information on the 7163 contact Integrated Engineering as they use that turbo on their 450 kits and have had some great success with it (it is what I would get if I did another build)... As far as surge goes I do not have any and I don't think my buddy with the 7064 does either.

If I'm not mistaken both of you guys are BW "b" frame turbos with ported compressor housings so that will help big time with the surge issue. I'm reading thru your build thread now.. Good info in there but it's looooong. Hard to read thru while tryin to manage the second shift of greenhorns on CNC machines

Good call on getting with I.E. One other thing I'm interested in, I'll be building my own manifold for this and wanted to bottom mount the turbo. In your best guess will it fit between the frame rail and the engine??
