    hey everyone!

i am currently considering trading out of my 16 s3 into an s6. i am looking at CPO vehicle's and wonder if its worth it for the cpo?

i drive around 25-30k miles a year and would most likely be at 100k miles before i get out of the car (maybe sooner with how i go through cars)

any issues with any certain model years, any long term estimated maintenance costs?

I haven't read about any real reliability issues with the C7 S6. My 2013 is at 57 K with no issues to report.

Unsolicited comment: Coming from 2 quick, maneuverable cars in the B8 S4 and the S3, you may find the S6 a bit isolated/isolating. It's more "rocket-powered luxury sedan" than it is "fairly-hard-edged sports sedan" and it's a LONG way from that M3....

Then again, maybe that's a recipe for a car you'd hold onto longer....?

Hey Saxon I remember you fro the s4 forum. I saw you had an s3, are you bored already? Not had mine long but read loads on here and they seem to suffer v little issues. Just do it the interior refinements alone are worth it

i have test driven and i agree that its a bit isolated but like you said its a rocket when the go peddle is down!! i am looking for a car that is more family oriented as my daughter barely fits into the back seat of the s3 with her car seat

Reason I moved up too mate. My daughter didn't want 'supercharger' to leave she got very upset. But loves the new car and how comfortable it is. Ling journeys are way easier and the ride is a lot smoother

I loved my CPO C6 S6 a lot FWIW, and the warranty covered everything but part of a V10 rework. It was my best purchase ever and the only reason I traded it in was "RS7". The S6 was definitely the most awesome car for the value.

I would do CPO kinda of regardless if the platform had above or below average reliability. If you plan on keeping it through that many miles, every car will have things go out. Coil packs, water pump, O2 sensors, thermostat, etc. then on this particular platform there is stuff like air suspension and all the turbo parts and plumbing that could need attention within 100k. With CPO it just makes it a non issue. And it will help with resale as well if all repairs were done by Audi.

Dad has a 14 s6 just hit 100k miles, solid as a rock. Only repair he had to do was a pcv valve.

Mine, and it seems like many others, burns a quart of oil every ~6k miles. But I'm pretty sure there is some fine print in the manual that says it's normal and the SA's at Wynnewood Audi say it's normal too.

Now it has a little over 40k, but I started noticing this when it was 20-something thousand.

The manual states something like, "Depending on the way the vehicle is driven and the operating conditions, oil consumption can be up to 1/2 quart per 600 miles"

FWIW, i was down 1qt in 5k miles (36k to 41k, the last 3k EPL tuned and always driven hard) which seemed about right considering what we're dealing with.

The MMI oil level has not moved on my S6 in 2400 miles. Need to order a dipstick to verify.

Mine burns about a quart every 4k miles. It has done it since new but only has 9k miles on it so far. I have started to let the oil temp get to at least 190 degrees before I get on it as I think I was getting on it before the oil reached operating temp. My coolant was up to operating temp but it takes a little longer for the oil to get there. Someone recommended that to me on the "my car burns oil" thread and it seems to be making a difference so far.
