Which Bilstein works best with S-line/Sport Suspesion (Black B4s vs.Yellow B8s)?

I own a 2007 2.0T/6MT Quattro S-line with the factory sport suspension and 18" Titanium Package wheel that is basically stock.

My intention is to keep the suspension close to stock and possibly try out an RS4 rear ARB after I renew the shocks.

I am debating between the black Bilstein twin-tube B4 OEs (which come in a length compatible with the "sport" suspension") or the yellow Bilstein montube-tube B8 sports.

I had concerns the yellow B8 sports might have too much dampening in relationship to the factory sport suspension springs?

    Thanks Stoic B7

I just got my B4 OE Sport shocks installed with sline springs and have the RS4 sway bar.

My car didn't have sport suspension originally, I just wanted the stock sport suspension. Handling is pretty good now and still comfortable. RS4 sway bar does very well with stock sport suspension. I wouldn't want to go any lower or stiffer.

The B8s are a better shock and should be fine with sport springs, however you could always change the springs too. I did that last weekend.

FYI the B8 sports are 3/4" shorter and are for lowering springs, Bilstein also have the B6 which are the HD valved liked the sports but same shock length as oem. I debating as well as to go with sport springs, coilers or just the B4 replacement. Good luck which your choice and keep us posted

Talked with Bilstein on Friday B6s are not compatible with shorter factory sport suspension. B8s are suppose to have same valving as B6s but shorter stroke which is compatible with shorter factory sport suspension springs.

The cost increment for using B4 (sports) vs. B8s is not the concern, I just do not want a jarring ride from having to stiff of a shock.

    Thanks

I have a 3.2 avant with sport springs that I just put HD's on two weeks ago, they have been great. I also wanted to go with the HD's in case I decide to raise it to get a little more ground clearance.

I'm glad you did talk to bilstein, I might go that route then with the B8 and sline springs.

If you can, get someone to gut a groove in the front shock 3/4" below the one that comes on it then move the spring perch down. It will make your car sit level instead of the normal s line reverse rake. The B8 shocks are pretty nice.

Hows the ride quality? I don't care much about the reverse rake, but thanks for the tip, who knows maybe one day lol.

Ride quality is great. I don't think you'll notice it being any more harsh than the factory sport shocks. I was over 150k miles on the original shocks so it was quite the improvement in ride quality for me.

Try Essex distribution. They're the Canadian Bilstein reseller. I think Germanparts.ca is also having a great sale on Bilstein for sport suspension
