I got this letter today. Debating on what I should do... If the malfunction indicator light doesn't come on, then what's the point in getting this "fixed"? Is it even a problem if the MIL doesn't come on? I'd have to have my local APR guy flash my car back to stock... Not too excited about that, or having to take it to the dealer.

Was planning on attending Avantoberfest,hotels are booked... but found out today that I might have to travel for work for a couple of weeks. Will find out for sure in the coming days. Believe me...the itch for a tune is really bad!!!!!

Here's a question - If we are on the fence about a tune later down the line - is this Audi's hotfix to prevent that somehow...either by making it easier to detect or making the ECU more difficult to flash?

Love this! Where do I get one?


I got my tune right after that free 5K maintenance.
20K miles later and no issues, no regrets.
Still feels as strong as it did the day it was tuned.
The only idiot lights that come on my DIS are for fuel and washer fluid.
I haven't had a single one, despite bouncing the limiter several times.

So one of my pals got this too , he's got a 15 q5 2.0 though and they did take over an hour to update the software on his car. But he hasn't seen any change since then . I mean no change in miles per gallon or anything else . Although I am a little concerned and don't want to take my 2016 3.0t to the dealership and let them twerk around with it.

Got mine. Will be taking it in two weeks from now - have another issue I want them to fix while the car is under warranty. Don't expect the update will change anything - just a software update to fix the issue they are seeing with the MIL and emissions.

Oil temp rise itself is a concern ... Usually means more stress on engine already .. wonder what they are up to now..

I would say start keeping a record of ur fuel economy and oil temps before and after the update bro .. to see if they really just updated the software or tweaked something else too.

After the emissions scandal I find anything that has "Volkswagen " and "emissions" in the same sentence hard to trust !!!

I am just amazed how VW is almost getting away with it .. no major senior executive from VW board or management is actually gotten any jail time for fraud.

Is it safe to assume they will apply this update when it's in for audicare service? Don't really want them messing around with something that is not really an issue. From what I have read, Audi doesn't want to spend money on warranty replacement of cats and parts, so this will fix that issue, however it is more stress on the engine... which sounds like a terrible trade off.

My update was done today. In and out in 45min.

I needed an ECU update regardless.

Alas, I have an appointment next week with 034 for the Stage 2 w/ Pulley. SO excited!

I let my Service Advisor know and he said it was a good thing I did my update now then! :)

Wait the service advisor dint frown on the news ? I though Audi service hates stage1 and stage2 mods. Infact I was told by my advisor that it affects the warranty of the vehicle. Was he bowshiting me ?

I think he meant its a good thing as in if it's done later then the car WILLbe flagged and out of drive train warranty

Regardless out their attitudes towards the mod . When it's plugged in it will be flagged and when they submit warranty work to Audi , it will be denied.
