    [3.2 FSI] Turning crankshaft manually

I can't seem to find too much on this topic, however I've had a few instructional videos reference a special tool that fits into the socket to turn the engine by hand.

I tried finding one, however there wasn't anything locally and there were few options online. I ordered one of the two I could find on amazon, but it doesn't seem to have left china in the last 3 weeks so I've lost hope there.

Does anyone know how I could go about turning the engine manually with a generic socket?

    Any input is greatly appreciated.

Are you carbon cleaning? I ran into the same problem while in the middle of doing my carbon cleaning. I read on the forums somewhere about getting a brake bleeder tool from harbor frieght and it worked.

What you do is grind down all the nubs, then grind down an outer square until it fits into the crank pulley allowing you to turn it with a socket wrench. It works it just takes a lot of test fitting. It ain't pretty but it got the job done.

I bought a crank turning socket for my 3.2 on eBay for $15, inc shipping. I got it in less than a week.
