    B6>B8?

I have almost 150K miles on my B6 and it is running like new. I still love my car after 10 years. I am starting to think about upgrading to a newer car. Upgrading? Hmmm. After looking at the B8 forum, I see oil consumption issues and more. I look at our old forum and really no big issues. Sure our cars are getting old, BUT I am wondering if a B8 is really better? No convinced. I can afford whatever I want, but don't like to be too showy. Anyway, I am not sure what to do? I see many on here with a lot of miles. Should I just keep my car for the 200K mark? I have an USP with an APR 1+ and it runs great so far, but I worry a little on longer trips. Any thoughts?

There was a thread on here of a guy thinking of trading in a b6 and getting a b8. He took the b8 for a test drive and wasn't really impressed with the driving dynamics compared to a b6. My b6 has 150k on it and I still love it. Sure, the amount of money I spend on upgrades and maintenance is more than the car is worth, but I think it's worth it.

The longer you wait the better the car you're going to get. Right now Volkswagen is in a pit of despair. But it will help modernize the brand as they say... So my impression is if you're going to make that significant of a purchase you should wait. I think the best Audi is an A4 Quattro TDI manual. Or an A3 sportback TDI manual. Or an A3 two door TDI. But none of these cars are sold here. The S4 is an interesting car. If I was to get another Audi and I was unable to get one of the cool ones I'd go S4 or s5.

I agree with jacobsen, the longer you drive your B6, when you eventually get into a new Audi, the technology and hopefully the body styling will be a lot better than the current A4/S4 platform. BTW, I think the 3.0l Supercharged V6 with the torque vectoring rear differential is the bomb. Very sweet running and powerful drive-line. Really handles like it's on rails. However, the 3.0l V6 TDI is a torque monster with few equals. Mated to the ZF 8 speed auto tip trans, with gear shifts that are practically instant, and torque vectoring rear diff is really almost to exiting to imagine. I would be slappy happy with this engine and trans. The current A4 is IMO, to damn big though. If I wanted a car that size I would buy an A6.

I now have 224k on mine. Still love driving it repairing it. We also have a B7 and I actually like that as much as mine. Easy to work on and no major issues. Ever think about a b7?

    I had a b6 then a b8.
B8 are much better cars IMO.
Way more comfortable than the b6.
But with that being said I kept the B6 and will going frankenturbo and that should be able to satisfy the fix.

The only B8 that is worth it is the S4 in my opinion. The B8 A4 is nice, but the issues with the 2.0T still make me cautious.

    3.0T FTW!

I don't know the exact technical details, but I've read that oil consumption / carbon issues are still present in the B8. Maybe not as bad as the early 2.0T motors, but the issue is still there.

Maybe someone else can chime in with the actual technical information.

wow didn't know about the piston issues. Ill have to research. as for the b7 no oil issues at all. Regular maintenance on the b7 and runs great. We where looking into the b8 but might have to pass if piston issues.

Audi generally covered the issues but I'm not sure of the specifics and I'm pretty sure it could be a drawn out process to get them to cover and engine replacement.

The B9 is where it's at IMO. Obviously that is going to be a brand new purchase though. In the last year I have had a 2016 A3, 2016 A4, 2016 Q5, and now a 2017 A4 loaner from the dealer. The B9 is honestly the first that not only impressed me but was a pleasure to drive compared to my B6 and I wanted to keep it. I was very underwhelmed when I had the B8.5 earlier this year and would never replace my B6's with one.

I had a b8.5 Allroad (fully loaded) loaner a few weeks back and I have to admit it drove really well. Didn't get a chance to push it. I'm not sure I could get over the numb electric steering though. There's just no real feedback. And the little you do get seems muted and artificial.

But the interiors are nice. More going on than the refreshingly sparse b6/7 but the perks (AMI with native iPhone integration, and Nav with traffic info) are really nice.

see a lot of b9s in the area. But they do seem alittle bigger more like the a6s from the b5-b6 gen. Last weekend we where in Watkins glen and a lot of bmw m4s. Very very nice. 1 2008 rs4. Was for sale but at 25k Ill pass.

If I could get an S3 manual, I would get that, but we will never see manuals in the US anymore I guess. I still like three pedals and my next car will have them. I don't care about performance difference, it is the joy of shifting for me. I guess I could look closer at the S4. Not a fan of my insurance going up because of it being an S, but whatever. Wonder if you can get 150K miles out of an S4 without many issues?

Yeah, the new A4's are pretty damn big. All cars seem do grow and end up as big boats.

I went from a big turbo B6 to B8, and I love the B8's power potential on just the stock turbo, the interior is awesome (no peeling buttons, still looks new) and its just all around a super fun car, but of course it's not without it's own faults, which are some reliablity issues in the early models.

I was going to do a comparison video actually just on my own opinion for people looking to make the same move I did... If any one wants one I'd be happy to.

Also must note: The B8 felt big to me for maybe 2 months, now it feels fine. I do wish it was a tad smaller but it's nothing to complain about, some sways and coilovers and it handles just fine.
